Enslaving others was and is all over the world. It’s not a strictly United States thing, yet they are the only ones still letting it have control over them. Yes it was one of the most atrocious things to ever happen to mankind and no one can ever dispute that. But, other countries (both black and white) have gotten past this but liberal America lets it live on. Why is that?

I’m surprised that there doesn’t even appear to be any evidence of them considering the study that was released a few years ago showing that the cost of racism in the US economy. They could’ve at least looked at that and see what their numbers would look like at the local level. Definitely looks like they weren’t serious about providing legitimate numbers.

Are they also going to give reparations to Japanese Americans and descendants of those who were put in internment camps in CA?

Inquiring minds would like to know.

Born as late as 1996 and you can get 5M . If that isn't good enough, you get 5M plus debt forgiveness.

They would have released the results of their investigation sooner, but they decided to wait until it stopped steaming.

Would this be anyone with a drug charge? If this is a qualifier, does this also mean that they do not currently have anyone incarcerated with drug charges?

shite, what if there was a math formula devised and it gave each BIPOC 7.2MM dollars per person?

That's what I would ask at the next council meeting.

German Americans were put in camps as well. Not like the numbers of the Japanese, it's just that this doesn't fit the racist narrative.

Take what the average white man has in the bank if you're going to do this crap and pay it out to them. Not every white person was a slave owner, as a matter of fact it was a very very small number.

I hope they pass it, and tax everyone in San Francisco to pay for it.

To the extent that SF receives federal funds your tax money would go toward that fantasy.

Actually, it's worse than that. According to the city supervisors, there are only 50k black residents in SF, with a total population of ~900k. So, that's 5% of the city's population and that's before you start eliminating those that wouldn't qualify (18+, resident for 13+ years, or the other random factors).

Once they can figure out a way to tax the "boat dwellers" then they're set.

Will the wealthy black residents be paying toward this fund?

How will that work for them?
