Snoopy imagining he's flying his Sopwith Camel into battle with the Red Baron was inspired writing. Of all laureates, you should know better.
One of my favorite songs growing up and to listen with with my kids.
Look, I don't denigrate this work and its influence on the cultural zeitgeist at all.
I just, when I returned to it as an adult, couldn't find the joy from my youth. Maybe it's just me.
Charlie Brown was just depressing, a true blockhead with few redeeming qualities. Just a constant kick in the pants.
Lucy is Just a grade A bitch that people fawn over for no reason.
Linus is...pathetic.
Looking at them with a jaded eye probably doesn't help.

As a kid I never understood why I read them. Always read the Sunday "funnies" and always took the time to read it but was always disappointed.
I remember when the guy died that people were falling all over themselves feigning sadness.

Iisten for sheer wit, nobody beats Larsen.
That being snoopy and gang are timeless….wholesome and nostalgic.
Watch the great pumkin every year you blockheads.

Garfield
Literally taught my son how to read. My son hated reading. after a recommendation from a friend, we bought a Garfield comic strip book. He literally would read it from cover to cover and then when he was done, read it again.

That's the bullshite story st Louis gave me but a retired military guy in Monroe put eyeballs on the records at the Monroe VA so I know they exist. Getting into the files has been my issue. If you have some pull I would love the help.

Y'all can suck my dick. Peanuts is the best. You may have come along later when he was losing his touch but if you go back to the original collections from the 60s or even earlier peanuts was funny as all get out.
I agree. Grew up on that shite in the 70's-early 80's. How could anyone not like Peanuts? Almost un-American

Shout out to the Loyola Flyers. Has snoopy for their logo.
They have the original letter from Schultz hanging in their school. The letter not only gives them permission to use Snoopy as their mascot, but has a sketch of Snoopy as the Red Baron. That's pretty cool.

I'm right there with you. The only comics that were funny to me were Calvin & Hobbes and occasionally B.C, and Bloom County.
Peanuts, Hagar the Horrible, Beetle Bailey, Garfield, Blondie and Dagwood, I never found them funny.

Hot Take-I never found peanuts to be that entertaining.
Read the strips all the time but it just seemed...bland

ETA: i celebrate the iconic characters and gags (Lucy pulling the football) and tropes he created...but it's just not all that funny.
