Hot Take-I never found peanuts to be that entertaining.

Read the strips all the time but it just seemed...bland

ETA: i celebrate the iconic characters and gags (Lucy pulling the football) and tropes he created...but it's just not all that funny.

The parodies of it are much funnier

A long time ago a website made the rounds that removed the third frame from the weekly comics.

It was crazy dark and depressing.

Y'all can suck my dick. Peanuts is the best. You may have come along later when he was losing his touch but if you go back to the original collections from the 60s or even earlier peanuts was funny as all get out.

the early Peanuts were the best...the tours of Snoopy's doghouse were a scream then Lucy's library of books on how to be a fuss-budget (1950's Karen)

Peanuts is awesome. And my five year old son loves it now too, so it spans many generations and still holds up IMO.

I can respect that. I liked the animated specials better. Like you, I always looked at the comic strips but had others that I liked more.

Family Guy had a little fun with Peanuts.

I remember having a worn and tattered copy of "The peanuts anthology" marks I found that my grandparents are a kid and Reddit covered to cover many times. I remember enjoying it back then I remember Loved sitting on my grandpa's lap and reading the funnies.

But now I go back and read them and can't really find what I thought was funny. Maybe I've become jaded and lost that child like wonder and joy.

Of course, I also found the Garfield books to be hilarious so maybe my sense of humor wasn't that developed back then

My dad read the funny pages to us every Sunday out loud and maybe it was his delivery but he would have me on the floor in tears.

Shoe, broom Hilda, haggar, Beatle bailey... Just absolutely hilarious

Snoopy was adorable as a puppy.

I still like Peanuts and Garfield as "back in the day" memories but as I got older, my humor definitely got more warped. No comic strips were funnier than Calvin and Hobbes with his snowmen.

Schulz was a real champion. He created the character Franklin in 1968. I show this image to my students as a catalyst for discussion.

Most don’t even see the issue until I point it out. Then, I point out that for the time period, this was progress.

Wasn't it Franklin's birthday though?
