In fairness though, offer me 100,000 Shiites from Iran for 100,000 Brooklyn resident white kids and I'm taking the Iranians straight up, no cash considerations or PTBNL

Went there for a wedding once. Interesting place. Old school NE vacation town that used to be the type of thing to do back in the day.

Oh shite. They’ve been after him for a while. Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been getting a little relaxed recently, so I’m sure this is going to startle her. Hope Salman recovers. Big fan of his.

Someone’s family is on pins and needles to see if they will collect the $3 million reward the Iranian government is giving to anyone who kills him.

Early reports were he was able to walk off stage with some help following initial treatment. Subsequent video shows him being moved gingerly on a stretcher to a helicopter for flight to hospital.

Needless to say, the latest video looks a lot more dire.

Am I the only person that’s never heard of this guy? Is it just that I’m not old enough to know who he is? Was he big news back in the day?

Religious extremists hated his book because it included “blasphemy” against their prophet.

Funny thing about internal bleeding is that you are fine until you aren't. Sitting up talking and then dead.

He was the original worldwide fatwa target of Islam (or at least the first widely publicized one). He's been under threat for 30+ years. He's often come up in relation to death threats against cartoonists, Charlie Hebdo, that kind of thing.

Yeah. He wrote a terrible book 30 some odd years, The Satanic Verses, that the muslims deemed so blasphemous that he had to be killed. It was big news when it happened because they all pitched a fit about it.

Most people had forgotten about him, but I guess murderous muzzies have long memories.
