I have a question. I live in Daphne. The wind has really picked up here. Standing outside by my front door I was looking at a 20’ tall metal halogen street light. The wind is blowing hard from the east headed west. However, the wind is also gusting from the north and the west. So watching this looking at the rain under that halogen lamp they are meeting, briefly fighting, then the gust pushes it all west. Why is the rain blowing from three directions?

Inland flooding is starting to look like a major issue with Sally. The swath of 20+" rain in the main eye wall band is even bigger now. At the speed this is moving, wherever inland that sets up, coupled with any other training bands, is going to see significant flooding. Some of the river gauges to the northeast of Sally along the Perdido and Escambia rivers are already projected to break records. I have a hard time believing that projections have taken into account the ramping up and the huge rainfall totals in that main band.

A 2mph progression and hourly rainfall rates at greater than 1.5" is almost a worst case scenario.

Sally is now a Cat 2 again. Sustained winds of 100mph.

You're at ground level and friction is effecting the moving air and you get some turbulence because of it. The main flow is out of the east and so the big gusts push west.

Rain during a hurricane is just crazy. Last night I told about Ivan when it passed through north AL. We had wind gusting 50+, and driving home from work over a bridge at midnight was wild. The rain was being blown in spiraling tunnels/bands about 20+ feet above the bridge. Those bands were separated by about 30 yards or so. It is the weirdest rain I've ever seen.

Worst part? The cell service is so fricking laughably bad here that I can barely pull up TD, much less watch a video or something.

Man no kidding. I drop calls driving down Hwy 98 by the Daphne Walmart area and down past Mosley’s when headed to Fairhope.

Wind just woke me up. Patio furniture is fastened to patio railing at Phoenix V with heavy duty zip ties. The furniture is slamming up and down, but the zip ties are holding. We use Brett Robinson and they had already tied all of the outdoor furniture at the units they manage in this manner before we arrived on Sunday. I noticed yesterday that some units didn’t have their furniture tied down. I guess those are managed by other companies. Guess it is safe to assume that their furniture won’t be there tomorrow. Wife just moved to a bedroom on the other side of the condo because all the noise is making her nervous. Wish we didn’t have the red / dim turtle friendly lights on the patio so I could see outside better. There is an incredible amount of noise with the wind and furniture slamming around.

Feels like the jump from 85 to 100 was pretty quick. How mush stronger can it get?

Hey, I don't know enough to answer your question, but noticed you said you were from daphne. My aunt lives in the mobile Bay area. Do you know anything about that area? My mom couldn't get her to leave; she's never been through a hurricane. I really don't know what I'm asking. I'm worried because she wouldn't leave & is 71. She said her apartment is built up on a hill. But with a 7-9 ft surge on top of 14 - 20 inches of rain... I'm just curious what she could expect. Any idea?

So....you're telling us TWC is using giant fans and sprinklers to trick us and Sally isn't even real? Son of a bitch....
