It’s gonna be really, really windy and really, really rainy.

I thought a few days ago that a strengthening Cat. 2 was Sally's ceiling, but I never thought it would get there the way it has.
No shite right?
Though this might be about right, since yesterday probably wasn't really a Cat 2 and hung around at minimum hurricane to 80 mph and then got going tonight. Models did all have it strengthening as the north turn happened.
To think I was discounting the aggressiveness of the GFS and HMON this evening.

Looks like about 3 hours until the eye finds gulf shores
At 2mph and "official" landfall being declared when half the eye is over land, and with the center of Sally's eye being ~37 miles from Gulf Shores.....that's quite a while to be in this shite.

Is that further in to town down toward the coast?
I've been to the one in D'iberville/ by the Pearl?

Eye is about 30 miles wide north to south. Gulf shores to the center of the eye is about 25 miles

With any future 2020 storms, it might be wise to pay attention to the HMON intensity at landfall. It has been pretty damn good this season.

pretty good to still have power..starting to get the core eye wall
Posted on 9/16/20 at 12:22 am to LegendInMyMind
HMON nailed the slow movement and stall days ago too. It was always on a Alabama/Florida landfall.

D'Iberville off of 110... that place is awesome...there is a pic of the mexian owner with nunchucks in his karate days hanging up on the left as you enter... food is freaking bomb

Winds 110 at a spot east side reported off shore

I'm using the tracking map on Hurricanetrack.com and measuring from where it has landfall to the center of the eye. It is roughly 37-38 miles.
