Fort Walton Beach and Destin officially added to the Hurricane Warning now.

Probably due to the expanding wind field.

I'm sure he reported it as a 757 nearly hitting him.

He said it was a light pole that came down initially and once the wind started blowing down the street a little he came clean.

But your “cone” theory was way wrong. It’s obviously moved out of the “cone”

NHC doesn't hide what the cone is. 66.67% chance it'll be within that cone.

Also, see this. Whole panhandle in the cone when this storm was sitting on Florida.

Duke, my PawPaw lost everything lin the 2016 flood in BR. He moved to Destin and is now 98. Has a house on Indian Bayou Drive. The surge won’t get him. The rainfall might. I looked at the maps from Ivan and his house was good. Any reason to think this will be be worse?

I don't think it'll be worse than Ivan surge wise. Ivan was a mature powerful hurricane for a long time and brought a lot of water. The rainfall is a concern though. Wish him all the best.

I don't know the area well enough to say if Indian Bayou Drive would be safe or not though.

Yep. Outer edge of eyewall. Based on speed and width of eyewall. You will be in it for several hours. Winds should get gradually worse then start to slack off as the eye approaches.

It is making a run at a 2. I never would have thought it after the day it had yesterday.
