Decent Perdido Key webcam for condo near Lillians Pizza

Occasional wave gets near dunes but not bad. Moderate tropical storm looking conditions

I just drove WB on I-10 over Mobile Bay, very little traffic.

Medium steady rain, NE winds at around 25 mph, gusts to over 35 mph.

Peej, the first thing to do when one finds one’s self trying to get out of a deep hole is to stop digging.

Please stop digging in this thread.

WOW! I'd like to see that. It's been years since I saw that traffic condition.

Could you tell any difference in water level? Over the old highway?

How are the conditions in the Foley/Pensacola area?

Scheduled to be there Thursday afternoon and Friday morning for a quick work thing. Want to get it done and not have to push it.

Looks like PNS is reopening 4am Thursday as of now.

Business is picking up in that NE side. Can see the evolution on the three passes through there. Getting plenty of purple flags now. Curious to see if that has translated to lower pressure in the center.

Plus, it's structure isn't ideal for a hurricane. So it might translate that lowering pressure into an expanded windfield vs much higher maximum winds.

Also, that expanded wind field is likely to equate to a greater surge. What intensification does occur doesn't matter too much in regards to overall impacts. This storm is a threat because of its slow progression, broadening wind field, and rainfall potential. There could be widespread flooding from not only surge, but rain as well. Surge will pile up as long as onshore flow remains. The category of this storm isn't the biggest concern, but the overall size and speed it is moving.

Yeah the purple is what you want to avoid if possible. Even though the sustained winds are not that high at the surface, the gusts are that high or higher and strong enough to cause damage.

This is still a fairly tight storm from a wind field standpoint as the NHC advisories have been saying all along.

That gas station canopy is at a store that is no longer in business. It's been vacant for awhile now.

What's the word on that low being picking up off the TX/MX coast in 10 days or so? Obviously that's a long way off, but anything to worry with?

I’ve been playing Clapton’s Lay Down Sally on a loop for a week now hoping everyone is spared major damage in the wake of this storm during these perilous times as they coincide with the rise of Covid, now more than ever.

Bigger September meteorological screwup:

Forecast of Sally or completely missing the cold front?

I'm much more pissed about the cold front but this Sally stuff may be fungible.
