To my untrained eye this thing is headed due East. I wouldn’t rule out the chance it doesn’t even hit land.

I was thinking there was a chance of this earlier since every update has shifted since yesterday.

Strong winds continue to move onshore, resulting in wind damage in Coden, Alabama where a gas station canopy was toppled. Additionally, a casino barge in the same area was shoved into the dock after breaking loose from strong winds and surge from. Photo credit: Amanda Barber

I’m puzzled at how TWC has people in freaking New Orleans but apparently not on the Alabama Gulf Coast where the biggest impacts are.

Yeah I’m surprised they all haven’t made a bee line to AL and FL coast. Set up live shots from Fairhope to Pensacola.

Wow. The original post that you asked me about was pure facts...
That wasn't facts. It was opinion based on stuff you believed to be fact which was not provided.

Strike 3 .... or 4... maybe 5. You're out.

D. Minimum Sea Level Pressure: 981mb (28.97 inHg)
E. Dropsonde Surface Wind at Center: From 110° at 2kts (From the ESE at 2mph)
F. Eye Character: Spiral Band
G. Eye Shape: Not Available

Pressure dropped a little. Not denoting a real eye but just a healthy spiral band. It will try to turn this into an eye as the afternoon goes not. Without a true eye structure, it won't be strengthening very much in the short term.

Could Sally be going even more easterly than last predictions?

this is interesting how it's sunny over here in BR, but 150ish miles away there is a hurricane just sitting there barely moving

It's certainly not moving NW.

N to NNE over the past couple of hours.

Yeah if it continues that heading it may go straight into Mobile Bay or just east into Fort Morgan / Gulf Shores.

Euro goes PCola. It's because of how slow it is I think, it keeps it pretty much stalled vs a slow move north for the rest of the day so it's got more time to get east as the NE move actually starts.

So Dauphin Island to Pensacola is our range at this point.

they are good - while they will catch some of the eye wall, it looks like they will stay to the west side of it - which is a whole hell of a lot better than what we were thinking yesterday.

Glad to hear that.

The winds keep dropping but so does the pressure..slowly mind you but there is a drop. I wonder if as it crawls N or NNE will it begin to strengthen again?

It could, but slowly.

The winds have been too high since last night on the advisories and has been slowly corrected down to what it probably is now. The pressure is starting to drop slowly which means you might see the winds increase. It's just not going to have much time to improve with shear to increase and it's mixing and cooling the water it's been sitting over for a day now.

Plus, it's structure isn't ideal for a hurricane. So it might translate that lowering pressure into an expanded windfield vs much higher maximum winds.

85 mph is looking pretty good for landfall winds.

Malbis checking in. Slept like a rock. Looking like my eastern shore is going to get the east side. Praying for no intensification

Impressive storm compared to what and where it started, and to now in a relatively short matter of time, outer bands stretching from the Keys to Hattiesburg
