So you want to punish people for private thoughts?
Wow.
No I donf, but the reality is that thoughts like that manifest into behaviors and actions, that discriminate and bar people from fairness.
Have you not been watching the news ?

I think it's very important to note "how many rushed" vs "how many are accepted". I 100% agree that if you look at frat demographics without this info - It appears hugely skewed...but not racist.

We had a kid come through that was good friends with some actives. I met the kid and really liked him a lot. He got balled by a few dipshit actives from North Louisiana because he is half-Vietnamese.
I think that was the day I stopped going around the fraternity house as often. It was complete and utter bullshite. The ones who balled him admitted he was a cool kid and would fit in. They were worried about how it would look to the other chapters.

I have no problem with this following him around - it should follow him around.
But he can overcome it with actions since it was actions that got him into this mess.
Do a stint in Africa for the Peace Corps; or do sign up for Americorps or the like or a few years in the inner city.
Not that the government is stopping these guys from speaking, but talking about lynchings isn't protected speech anyway. And given that the taxpayers are paying for a large part of the education of these guys (perhaps all of it if they have a TOPS), yea, OU can do what it sees fit.

So just because they're white then?
Pretty much. I personally couldn't imagine being the only black guy in an all white fraternity and I figure they wouldn't be too thrilled for me to be there either.
Not that it would even get close to that point.
I'm sure this may not be true for all in the south.

Certain fraternities are going to be accepting at LSU. Others aren't. And it's not totally because of the individuals being outright racists. It's about keeping up the exclusivity of it. You want to be the best organization with the most sought after pledges. You want that senator's son, or the kid from the prestigious high school. Letting in a minority makes it look like you are easy to get in to, etc.. It's still racist, but it's more classist than purely racist.
And it's not 100% like that at all. It really is a group of guys that get together who have likeminded interests, but there are those undertones.

Clearly there is racial divide, but I think it is more of an unwritten rule.
I personally would have never thought to try and pledge at a white fraternity. Not because of anything they said or did though.
From what I've been told, its the alumni from a few of the frats that tell them not to let blacks in. That's why at LSU there will be black kids and other minorities that go through rush, but will never get bids from a certain few frats.

Hazing, underage drinking, rape allegations are much different.
When you're dealing with a public state university, speech codes are troublesome - to say the least. Private schools can get away with it easily.
Again, we don't have to worry about it here because SAE National office did the right thing.

I know the national chapter came out against what these guys did but it would be interesting to know how many black SAE's there are in the US.

According to the song, there's none with no plans of accepting any.

Surely somebody here can get that info. The OT has people EVERYWHERE.

I was greek at LSU. You wanna talk about straight up racism. KA dropped all social functions with Tri Del in 2009 because they accepted a black girl(she was the only black girl in a sorority at that time). The girl was really cool and carried a 4.0 until she graduated. I believe she was an actually african american aka not raised in US and A.

I was in a big fraternity at Ole Miss and nothing like this would have ever happened. Friends with SAEs and other fraternities at Ole Miss as well and they wouldn't do this.
Its not clever, funny, or anything. This is something redneck high school kids would say. Its quite embarrassing.

There's obviously a racial divide, but it's not like we would escort them out of the house, because they had no shot. I will admit, I couldn't see them ever getting a bid, because there are going to be several people against it and that's all it takes. But that doesn't mean that there was this outward "everyone hates minorities" feeling when you walked into our house.
I don't know what this means but it isn't reassuring

I'm so sick of race discussions.
I made it through about 5 pages.
Same old shite.
Blah blah blah blah
The double standard of what's Acceptable and what's not based on the color of your skin is what bothers me the most.
That's the reason things aren't and won't get any better between whites and blacks in America.

Well kids doing this shite because they think it makes them more Southern or more Texan or more whatever-the-frick-people-celebrate-in-Oklahoma-an surely doesn't help. Sad part is it's unlikely these kids even really believe what they were saying. In my personal experience, this stuff was a rebellion against the other 90% of college kids in the US who are liberal bedwetters, not the product of of some true white supremacy or hatred of all black people.

This.
I feel like a lot of people are kinda over the whole conversation but it's the old tymers on both sides of the aisle who are holding on.

It's probably a handful of people that really think that way on the bus. The rest are just sheeple doing what sheeple do to fit in.
Embarrassing and stupid.
