I like that he came in in the 13th hour to throw money at this group to hire security and build a stage and they did no due diligence to vet the PAC he claimed to represent. Then the security turned on the group and kept them from accessing the stage while he sang.

The Borat movie was predictive programming. Relations with Russia were generally favorable at the time. Remember, it wasn't that long after the collapse of the USSR.
Then, all of the sudden, we've got this movie just unabashedly throwing Russia under the bus. (Don't give me that Kazakhstan horse shite- the dude's a Russian stereotype.)
The whole thing was really strange. Go back and read the reviews. Borat was universally acclaimed as high art and insightful commentary. When's the last time you actually had the urge to watch it, though?
Now, we live in a world where the entirety of the mainstream news was devoted to "Russia bad" for months if not years. And we're all primed for it, having been told by Borat that Russians are backward, racist homophobes. Oh, and they have a lot in common with frat boys from Alabama! Isn't that all convenient?
