You're stooping to the level of people who care so much about it they want it removed in the first place.
Its a piece of concrete and metal. Its just not a big deal.
ETA:
Be mad about it, fine. Its stupid and a waste of money, but its a losing battle. Its been decided. Be mad, but being mad enough to stake out the area all night to protect it? Give me a break. fricking losers.

I would never do it I'll give you that, but I can tell you that when Richmond VA went through this crap in the 90s some ole Sons of Confederate Veterans baw went out and chained himself to Jefferson Davis and literally stood in the way of a bulldozer that was coming to demolish the monument. City basically said frick it, and the monument still stands today. So if it's something you really care about that kind of activism can work.

I hope somebody chains themselves to the Lee statue like one of those tree hugging hippies would do to save a tree.

The tactic is to stall the actions until a new administration comes in, hopefully with a different view of the issue. People do it ALL THE frickING TIME. It is not stupid or hopeless.
