Well that sucks. Is it still all Mexicans living there?
quote:yea maybe 'gone to shite' is a bit harsh but seeing it now as compared to when I was younger is night/day. But like everywhere, areas age and so do the structures. I don't think you can discount the impact Katrina had also. Illegal laborers came to the area for work and never left. Lakeside and EJ hospitals deliver babies all day/night for free. They are out-producing whitey.
No doubting that but the whole "Metairie is going to shite" narrative is overblown. Overall, it's still a good place to live.

Have you been to fat city lately? And do you know the plans for it?
The plans for Fat City are ambitious. I hope it works well however it is far from becoming what it could be. There is tons of bad housing there.

when i graduated CBS, one kid went to Rummel, one or two went to Brother Martin and the rest of us went to Jesuit. the jesuit staff always hates having to deal with 90 new eighth graders that all know each other already
I've heard that Jesuit is taking a harder look at CBS students due to some recent problems with the students coming from there.

And every NOLA Catholic HS would have served that same purpose all the same if all you wanted to do was go to LSU
Not much of a point in debating which is better if that's what your aim is
You do realize there is a difference between majoring in sociology and biology premed, yes?

We had 2 go to rummel, one miraculously transferred to jesuit after 8th grade. I want to say at least 10 went to BM. Rest went to Jesuit.

70005 and 70001 have never been higher.

Sids table data also seem to support what i said.

A large portion of 70001 is actually the worst section in Metairie. It has had more crime then Fat City.

You do realize that's not remotely similar to comparing Jesuit to other high schools, correct? Jesuit isn't synonymous with biology premed.

You're missing the point.

Which is that Brother Martin or Rummel inherently does a worse job of preparing high schoolers for success in premed at LSU?

quote:Well, no and yes really. The residential section between W.Esplanade and Fat City Blvd has never been worse. The actual commercial Fat City strip has improved (I guess) since a lot of bars closed down. Addition by subtraction. What improvements are you referring to?
Yes, all the time. You don't think it's improved lately?

Well then explain to someone not bright enough to be a Jesuit grad or premed major exactly what your veiled point is

There was nothing veiled. You're taking my original point regarding why someone would go from Jesuit to LSU and trying to twist it into some HS pissing match.
Jesuit does prepare you better, but that is neither here nor there.
