Rouses Customer Service - King cake relatedPosted by Puffoluffagus
on 2/19/21 at 4:02 pm

So, I ordered a king cake from rouses to be delivered earlier this week on Monday.
Ordered shipped out last Saturday via FEDEX, but was held up in Memphis due to the inclement weather. At this point in time, it's still there, with no pending delivery date. At this point, I wouldn't want to eat the king cake anyway.
So, I gave Rouses customer service a call to request a refund. Response I got was that they are not issuing any refunds for king cake orders, since they baked a cake and shipped it...it's no longer their responsibility to ensure that I get the cake.
Anyway, I'm gonna dispute the charge on my CC to get my refund. But first I've encountered with a company that thinks they don't need to deliver a product or service that was paid for. They can dispute with FedEx for mitigation, but the onus isn't on the customer to ensure that their product is actually delivered to the customer.

Looks like this is a weather related problem.

FedEx is preserving it by freezing it. No worries. Memphis weather will help keep your package preserved!

Rouses bent the knee after having a valid reason for being in DC in January. Frick them and their king cake, which is crap anyway.

Of all the king cake options out there, you ordered Rouse's?

Dude, they baked it, they shipped it...it’s an issue with the shipper at that point

We had a King Cake delivered from Ambrosia. It unfortunately sat on my front porch for about 3 hours and had to thaw. But it turned out pretty good.

Figured this would come up

I've ordered from them before(and used to have them when I lived in nola). They were always fine, not the best but not bad for the price.
I wasn't going to order a king cake this year, but my co workers wanted one and by the time I was gonna order, all the good places were booked out. It is what it is.

Why would Rouses be responsible for refunding you money when they did exactly what you asked them to do?

Right and if the shipper doesn't deliver a product on their behalf then the company mitigates it not the customer.
If you order an item from Amazon and you don't recieve the order...you don't fight with the shipper, you talk to Amazon to mitigate and make the situation right.

There is a tad bit of difference between Amazon and Rouses

A 30 second google search clearly states

SHIPPING POLICY: Rouses is not responsible for delays or failures in delivery due to adverse weather conditions or natural disasters. Rouses is not responsible for delays or failures in delivery due to incomplete or incorrect shipping addresses provided by customers. If a package is en route to be delivered and an address correction needs to be made, any additional fees charged by shipper will be the responsibility of the customer. By placing this order, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.

Rouses is a terrible grocery store, but not sure why you are putting this on them, it’s a shipping issue
And as I am sure has been mentioned, why did you pick rouses for a king cake?

Wait until you receive it until you call customer service. The same thing happened to me, except mine came in an unsatisfactory condition. I took a picture, sent it to their customer service email, and immediately got an answer. I love King Cake so I took the option to get a new one sent out vs. a refund

Yeah I guess one who wants to retain future customers and one who doesn't?
quote:Who was that with? I had the same issue with Nonna Randazzos and was told the same thing, that they sent it and that was the end of their responsibility. When it finally arrived (over a week later), the cake was smashed on one side and the icing stuck to the plastic. I sent them a picture asking if they could replace it or refund and they have ignored me.
