Ronald Gasser, the man authorities say shot and killed Joe McKnight during an apparent road-rage incident in Terrytown, has been indicted on one count of second-degree murder, the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office announced Thursday (Feb. 2).
Gasser, 54, was originally arrested Dec. 5 on a manslaughter charge, four days after the shooting.
"Subsequent to that arrest, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office continued working together in a collaborative effort to develop additional evidence regarding the case," a release from District Attnroey Paul Connick states.
Judge June Darensburg increased Gasser's bond to $750,000 following the indictment. If convicted, he faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole, probation or suspended sentence.

Unless all of the details regarding the fight are proven to be provoked/escalated by the defendant, he will most likely be acquitted

It's sickening to see any pussy use a gun in a road rage incident. Punch the dude if you have a problem.

Wait, I thought everyone said no way a white man would get charged for killing a black guy?

I haven't kept up with this too much but it was my understanding that McKnight got out of his car and walked up to Gasser's car to confront him. Please correct if wrong.

I thought McKnight was chasing him and got out of his car? Yeah I'm not trying to fight NFL players.

His fate will come down to the races of the jury members.

I'd rather take my arse beating than take another life and rot my arse in jail. Hey, but that's just my choice.

Lock this dude up..... fricking pussy using a gun in a road rage incident. Life is so fragile and it's people like this who don't appreciate it that make the world a worse place.

Perhaps we should, you know, let the evidence come out before we start saying stuff like this.

Because we all know if we are confronted with that situation that it was just going to be an arse beating. Not anything life threatening. Guy just got in a car chase with you and came at your vehicle to have an old fashioned gentlemen's boxing match.
He stepped out of his car and said "Hi, I'm Joe McKnight, a well known guy who you have no reason to believe would be violent. I am just upset at your driving and would like to kindly fight you until I win, then allow you to go on your merry way".
Or, a guy wayyy bigger and younger than you chased your arse down and is now coming at you. You've never seen him before. You have 15 seconds to decide if he might kill you or not.
fricking people. I'm not even saying the guy was right to shoot him. But if you are stupid enough to think that you know how to handle every situation because you are some tough guy, then you are an idiot. You can be as tough a guy as McKnight was. Look at where that got him.

NOPD corruption
Probably not, since this happened in Jefferson Parish.
