I know this is a boomer take and I’m not a boomer for the record but compare “maps” to something like “we don’t get fooled again” as a metaphor for just how far we’ve lowered our expectations over the last couple generations.

Maps is just a trash song from a band with a trash name.

Only 6 of those were released after 2010.

Ive never even heard the #1 song in my life and had to go to Youtube. It's utter crap

You're correct, but it went viral with the Gen Z crowd a couple years back due to some TikTok trend.

This board and its The Who love I love that you provided a “I’m not a boomer” disclaimer and then come in hot with this musical take.

I listen to too many genres for that to be the case.

Silly me, I have never listened to numerous genres. Only you do that, apparently.

That song is like they tried really hard to make a Pretenders song filtered through the emotional atmosphere of Mazzy Star, but utterly failed

It sucks

Recent generations suck at everything.

Compare that list to a list from say the 26 year span from 1964-1990

2. “Seven Nation Army” – The White Stripes (2003)

I don't see how this isn't number 1. It's chanted or played at seemingly every sporting event around the world, and has been for quite some time at this point.

16. “Welcome to the Black Parade” – My Chemical Romance (2006)

This song should be much, much higher. That entire album is amazing.

8. “99 Problems” – Jay-Z (2003)

24. “Yellow” – Coldplay (2000)

quote:

13. “Night Shift” – Lucy Dacus (2018)

quote:

14. “Portions for Foxes” – Rilo Kiley (2004)

These songs make this a garbage list.

quote:

22. “Beautiful Day” – U2 (2000)

U2 belongs nowhere near a "top" list of any sort. Most overrated musical act of all time.

Does anyone under 25 even know what this is?

Calling it culturally irrelevant is an understatement.

Song blows and since when do “Rock Stars” look like nerds from Junior High Band in black t-shirts? No chicks are throwing panties on stage to anyone in that band.

There are quite a few really good songs on that list. But there are some really bad ones too. Rolling Stone needs to stop making lists.

You must have a very narrow definition of "rock".

The White Stripes, U2, The Strokes or The Killers don't do it for you?
