quote:Agreed. By the time Navarro joined, Kiedis and Flea had essentially become caricatures of themselves. And Navarro sure didn't help. It was practically a supergroup of guys playing exaggerated versions of themselves by that point. Frusciante kept the whole thing grounded.
BTW, the Dave Navarro era of RHCP showed us that without John Frusciante, RHCP would have never been as big as they were.

all it takes is one viral TikTok to make them relevant again
U2 doesn't really have any songs that would trend on TikTok, IMO, and I am saying that as objectively as possible.
People still make fun of when Apple forced U2's album onto everyone's phones. That was their last viral moment

Idk you never know what is going to go viral on Tik Tok. I'm still getting "state? Who told you this was state property?" Memes all day.
Who would have thought that would go on like that?

The official song of white people under 30.

Because someone remixed it with Nicki Minaj "Beez In The Trap" and the mix blew up

Foo Fighters? Good Lord. Music in the 90s was awful.

I graduated HS in 1991, so span that era of a child of the 80s where hair metal, U2, Prince, MJ, Madonna, Metallica, GnR, and punk music were all intertwined.
Then in college was there for the rise of grunge and all the great music of the 90s including the resurgence of country music.
I consider myself lucky to have lived in a time where I was inundated from the "classic" stations playing all the great music from the 50s, yes 50s doo-wop music was on the classic stations on Saturday nights, 60s, 70s. Modern rock playing the 80s into the 90s. So, I got to hear it all, including early rap music.
As for MCR, in the mid-2000s I saw those T-shirts at Hot Topic so was curious and listened to the Black Parade album. It was fantastic from the first listen. Don't know why it's getting flack here. Give it a listen.

Rock was huge culturally in the early 2000s through the early 2010s.
It was in decline by then and less popular than hip hop and pop by that time.

This is an actually good list.
I forget how much people don’t know about music.

The EMO era got so so much backlash from "real" rock fans, and its funny because they were making "real" rock music
Every generation does that, but it seems like Emo got it harder for a lot of reasons

Not gonna lie.... 99 Problems is probably, lyrically, the best of the group.
And this is why I told you last week Jay Z is the most overrated rap artist of all time. A top 200 rock songs of the century and Jay Z is top 10

I liked some of the emo bands.
Dashboard, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, etc
I just really hated MCR and AFI and The Used.

Produced by Rick Rubin. It was a rock song with rap elements.

I was a NuMetal guy so hated Emo. My sister was big into Emo. So my parents made me take her to some Vans music fest in Austin one time and I really got into all the music. Was some great bands that day and my thoughts on the music changed.

In the 2000s Eminem had taken over the HS boys crowd. Ironically, Eminem is still very popular amongst the 10-year old boys crowd. As is AC/DC.
My oldest, 24, loves Motley Crue. A kid that has been to a mgk concert. Figure that one out.

After looking at that list, it's no wonder that the strippers only dance to rap...
Rock has failed us.... Ozzy sang "You Can't kill Rock and Roll." He was wrong... They did.

May just put this whole list on Spotify since I haven't heard of so many. I find myself listening to the same stuff over and over.
