I miss K&B and Hibernia Bank.
I miss the 8.5% return on my Southern Savings and Loan account with the handwritten entries in the passbook by the lady with the beehive hairdo. Heck, it was just nice to cool off in their AC on a hot summer’s day.

I wonder if someone can get hold of the K&B trademark and revive it.
K&B would make a sweet brand for a pot dispensary if rec was ever legal in Louisiana.

Good riddance. Chain pharmacies are dog shite. Hope CVS is next.
Heaven forbid we have easily accessible pharmacies.

I remember my dad had a bottle of K&B vodka that no one touched my whole childhood. That had to be an epic hangover back in the day
My dad would drink a fifth of K&B vodka a day. If things were going well, he’d splurge and get the good stuff, Taaka.

I made a post earlier because when I was younger, I got hired by K&B and worked from K&B building on Claiborne --- now a POS SWBNO building.

That’s what the local pharmacy is for. I’m not against pharmacies. I’m against the giant conglomerate pharmacies that squeezed out the local pharmacy.

Only a matter of time.
You rather have to go to WalMart and Target?

Good. We have WAAAAYYYYYY too many pharmacies in this country. There a numerous intersections with 2 and even 3 on opposing quarters.

Yes, I hold a grudge.
So do I. Had a conversation with my mother when this happened and we agreed that they really screwed up by doing away with the K&B brand.

He said easily accessible. Local pharmacies aren't open 7 days a week or 24 hours. You do get that accessibility with chain pharmacies.
*ETA: and before you freak out, I use a local pharmacy.

I don't get sick on the weekends, that's my time. I save it for during the week on company time.

walgreens isn’t going anywhere. they were recently bought by a private equity firm so it will take a few years for them to destroy and loot the company. Now CVS on the other hand, with their insistence on thinking self checkout is the only mode of operation will be gone soon. But it probably is better than having a really unpleasant Shaniqua try to” help” you.

My only real experience with Rite Aid was the locations they bought from K&B. My goodness, they ruined those stores. It took maybe a year, two at max, for them to turn into crap and I stopped going.
Looking at their history, their model basically was:
1) buy a chain with borrowed money
2) insanely strip expenses to service the debt
3) occasionally get over extended and need to sell locations to pay debt
4) rinse and repeat
Eventually they just pissed off all their customers. Thousands of stores.
Truly insane.

I worked at Eckerd's for a few years in the early 80's as an assistant manager. Their business model made managers and assistants work a ton of hours each week until you eventually got fired because you became physically exhausted and were unable to keep up with the workload.
The last store I worked at required me to work noon til midnight on Saturday, and 8:00 am til midnight on Sunday. I was given Monday off, but I spent most of that time sleeping and recovering from the weekend. In addition, the company paid "Chinese Overtime" to managers in which the more hours per week you worked, the less you were paid for each hour of OT. In one 2 week pay period, I earned 91 cents per hour BEFORE tax was deducted. Even in 1984, Chinese sweat shop kids earned more than that.

Oh you mean the wackadoos that close at 330 during the week and are inaccessible on weekends?
Nah, give me the CVS.
