What a fricking joke. LSU is operated by massive pussies.

The end-game here is to put the frats back in their front yards to tailgate, and raffle off the prime tailgating area to more easily-managed, less hassle, more monied corporate tailgates from here on out.
Yep, I think in 5 years the parade grounds will resemble the grove at Ole Miss on gamedays with reserved plots and areas. I don't think they go as far as the stupid grove rules (no visible bottles or cans, no open flames, etc.) but I think it will be mostly or all reserved plots.

This is 100% targeting Greek organizations in my opinion. They know they are collectively throwing tailgates and this is a way to enforce their alcohol policies on these events. To those saying just don't consider it an organized event, it doesn't work like that. Even if you have a house party with a bunch of members off campus and the University found out, they can consider it a organization event if they wanted to.

I have to agree with this and the other posts that this is all about getting the parade ground clear so they can sell the spots for corporate use. That isn't guessing, I know it to be fact. Expanding on my earlier post regarding the administrations views on lost revenue from game days, in that same meeting it was stated that LSU would like to be able to charge people to come onto campus on game days. One of the concepts floated was to set up checkpoints at major intersections where you would pay to buy a bracelet to allow access. Anyone caught on campus without the bracelet would be subject to a fine via a ticket from the police just like a traffic violation.
Numerous issues with this crazy arse idea were pointed out during the meeting but they are still floating the idea around.

Can't the Greek organizations just throw parties "with their friends" using money that is collected outside of their dues?
Yes, it would be a PITA for a "friend" to pool money from his other "friends" but there is nothing that says the money ever has to get close to touching the fraternity itself. Then, it isn't a fraternity sanctioned tailgate/event and would not apply under these rulings.
Missing something?

These people know how to destroy culture with a quickness.

Not sure if this has been posted already but found this on the rant. It's a slide from her presentation with things that are problematic

I wonder how many experts she had to consult to understand what those words meant

No, they can't. If a group of guys all rent a house together off campus and are part of a fraternity, then throw a party with fraternity members present, it can be considered an event. They usually don't overreach to that for anything unless it's a big deal. If a guy got alcohol poisoning and Greek affairs caught wind, they can and likely would use it against the organization even though it wasn't a "sanctioned" event. They'd probably get in trouble merely for the fact of not getting it sanctioned.

This 100%
Plus the older people that tailgate around that area have always eyed the spots the fraternities take. There's high demand for those spots, and I'd bet LSU is going to limit the number of fraternities in that area to allow in more alumni tailgates
This will all backfire when Greek tailgates move back to the fraternity houses and the campus police won't have any idea since they are all in the main areas of campus away from the houses. In house tailgating hidden from LSU will go much harder than the tailgates out in the open on the parade grounds

WTF, this would absolutely kill LSU tailgating. The parking pass nonsense was bad enough. But charging everyone to walk on campus that day, including students who live there? frick That

Alumni could threaten to pull their donations over it. I don't think the students have much leverage in this discussion other than LSU losing its culture.
