Alumni could threaten to pull their donations over it. I don't think the students have much leverage in this discussion other than LSU losing its culture.

My guess as to what will happen. Its what normally happens when LSU tries to frick over the greek community

WTF, this would absolutely kill LSU tailgating. The parking pass nonsense was bad enough. But charging everyone to walk on campus that day, including students who live there? frick That

Yeah, I'm not sure I believe that anyone at LSU is dumb enough to think that would be a good idea. There'd be no reason to tailgate on campus anymore. People would just tailgate at home or a bar and show up for kickoff

Believe it. They said it. They feel that people who have tickets will tailgate regardless of cost and those who don't have tickets THEY DONT WANT THERE ANYWAY. Think about it. Those people don't generate revenue in the eyes of the administration and that is their sole focus.

What about the people who buy their tickets on campus, or who love gameday so much that they'll buy tickets in the future?

That dude is one of the biggest morons ever to run a school. He doesn't even do a good job of crying wolf because everyone knows he is spewing a bunch of bullshite now

I don't care how little it may cost but I wouldn't go out of principle

I imagine the surrounding businesses off campus that make a large part of their revenue on lsu game days would disagree

in that same meeting it was stated that LSU would like to be able to charge people to come onto campus on game days. One of the concepts floated was to set up checkpoints at major intersections where you would pay to buy a bracelet to allow access. Anyone caught on campus without the bracelet would be subject to a fine via a ticket from the police just like a traffic violation.

How would that even be legal?

I'm not reading through this whole thread, but seriously what is the point of this shite? My college days are sadly behind me so I don't have much of a dog in this fight, but leave the kids alone. Who cares if they make a mess, the same thing happens on Mardi Gras? It adds to the environment on Gamedays, which incidentally is one of the few things LSU is known for.

Seriously LSU is in many respects a shithole institution with 3rd tier shithead administrators running it into the ground.

It is a land grand institution attracting a wide array of people. Part of the draw is the fun atmosphere. Why do people with hyphenated surnames insist on tampering with that?

Can't the Greek organizations just throw parties "with their friends" using money that is collected outside of their dues?

That wouldn't fly. I vaguely remember that back in my college days if you had something like 5 members of your organization or some other ridiculously low number like that present at an event the administration could consider it a sanctioned event by your organization.

It'll be hard to tailgate without a football team. Amirite?

In regards to the Greek affairs aspect that I think this has a lot to do with (seriously, what other organizations are going to have tailgates that cause issues), I think this at least has some merit compared to other crap they pull. I'm not for it at all, but the reality is, those tailgates turn into pretty blatant underage drinking out in public during one of the most visible times for the University. By the time I was old enough to legally drink, I wasn't really going to those tailgates anymore. I can understand their attempts to curb it when looking at it from their point of view, but it is highly unfair to target one part of the student body just because they know they can dangle the fate of their organization over their head.

Dude. The last time that song was played at a football game (aTm in 2013), the kids that will be seniors in the fall were freshman.

I'd like to see some plot where all the Greek organizations send 4 people each to the same place.

Students and organizations can just bypass this baloney by tailgating as a free standing regular Joe group of people.
