It cannot be understated. Let's imagine going back to 1984 - if Bob Broadhead hires anyone besides Skip Bertman - for folks my age who remember what LSU baseball was before that time - almost 100% it would have continued to be that for decades after - and nothing resembling what it is today. I mean LSU baseball could just as well have been tennis - and again, I'm not understating it.
And the ripple effect to other programs in the state and the SEC. it's all him. He changed it. One man. The way college baseball is for 98% of programs today, it would almost certainly be that here still today if not for him.
Instead we talk baseball year around - with a passion unrivaled. It's will forever be a living tribute to the man who did something at one place that is truly so unique it can and will never be duplicated.
