Haven’t read it all so this may have been touched on. But my go to is as walking in I find a person that left cart and has gotten in car. While they are there to see I take it and put in cart corral. I’ve had some nice things said but most are extremely ugly. Mostly the women are the ugliest about it. They usually anticipate you using the cart, but replace and get your own as you come in.

this thread seems to come up every 90 days, along with handicapped parking, airplane seat width and boomers.

Do you recycle ?

If I am going to buy a bunch of groceries at Sam’s or Costco, usually park right up against a cart pen. Unload, roll it about 8 feet and done.

If I shop Publix, I will generally roll the cart back into the store.

When I do that, I usually say something like, "Oh, no. Some poor crippled piece of shite must not have been able to put their buggy back. I'll do it for them."

While returning my cart at Costco this AM I saw a younger woman not only return her cart to the corral but one left by another who had parked near her and left it. I was impressed about another’s shopping cart behavior this morning before I read this.

If you can't be bothered to at least take your cart to the cart corral, you are a trash human being with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. None. Just straight garbage.

I return the cart to either the front of the store or cart corral whichever is closer.

There's almost no good reason why you can't do this. We go to a smaller grocery store all the time near our house. They have no buggy returns in the parking lot.

When the kids were younger I'd make them push it back to the store and I'd drive around to pick them up.

I probably wasn't a perfect father, but that and not littering they've had drilled into their heads

It's simpler than that. Use fricking turn signals. I can't read what's going on in your pea sized brain.

The dilemma is, when I have a good spot near the store, do I return it to the store, or walk farther from the store to the cart return.

I don't understand the melt on shopping carts.

Yes, I usually put mine back.

No, I don't care if you do or not. Sometimes I don't. There are paid staff members to do cart patrol, and there are also far worse parking lot behaviors that have no assigned and paid staff members to deal with. For example, handicap spots bandits; guys who take up two spots "because I drive a nice car; guys who take up two spots because it's their first time in a pickup; littering; robbery.... we could go on.

Gold jacket, green jacket, who gives a shite.

Hell, these days we’re fortunate if there aren’t a bunch of dirty diapers and trash tossed in the parking lot.

There should be a tracker app that notes how many diapers and fast food bags are in a Walmart parking lot on any given day.

Rounding up shopping carts provides gainful employment for people unqualified to do much else.

Infinitely worse than the shopping card non returner is the school drop off line cutter who goes right to the front and when one person pulls out, they immediately sneak in

Those people are in the same tier as serial killers.

If you can’t be trusted with small things, God won’t entrust you with big (or better) things either.
