I’ll usually grab a few if there’s some on the way to the cart return. My vehicles have been dinged way too many times by wind-driven shopping carts.

I think people self-govern just fine….in a vacuum.
What many people are terrible at is doing it in a way that allows them to co-exist peacefully and prosperously with others, and shopping cart returns is just one of many data points that prove this.

I park far from the front as I'm not afraid of a little walking and I figure there are people who need those closer spots more than I do.
And yes, even though I'm parked far away, I gladly return my cart.

Thats the most important part of self governing.

I have difficulty walking due to a knee problem but I always park next to the cart corral. I get a cart before I enter the store and put it back after I load my groceries in the trunk. This is assuming that I don't use the pickup service which I usually do.

A frequently repeated topic, but yes. People who make excuses for why they don’t do something so simple are trashy.

This one is actually more valid than the leaving you baby in the car excuse. No one picks up their own dishes at a restaurant because they have bus boys who get paid to pick them up.
No it isn’t, and if you walked outside with a glass from the bar while you’re waiting, you would bring the glass back to the bar to be picked up. Not left outside “bc there are bus boys.”

Minority young men are hired to pick up the carts and push them back.
I cant help but leave mine in the parking lot to secure jobs for them.
Returning your cart eliminates these jobs. Raciss.

agreed...additionally...people that park in handicap spots that are not handicapped belong in this group...

When you return the cart you put an underprivileged person out of a job

People with ebt cards deserve to park in handicapped spots because oftentimes they need 2 carts for all their steaks and cookies

That is why some places like Aldi have quarter system to essentially rent the cart and get the quarter back when you pick it up.

Exactly. Same as when you throw away your trash after a movie. It's like these people don't know how an economy works.

At the Wal Mart near my house, the people from the trailer park down the street take the buggies home. The next time they go to the store, they leave the old buggy and come home with a new one. The buggies pile up at the trailer park and Wal Mart runs out till corporate delivers a new set of buggies. Or so the manager told my dad when he asked why a whole store had like 3 buggies.

Even when my kids were babies, i still took them to the store with me and would still return the buggy.
I have heard and seen so many women say with screaming babies, I’m just trying to get in the car and get the groceries in the car.
That is no freaking excuses. It’s called making an excuse and women just being women
No reason for me to risk damage to my vehicle or park further out because they decided to have kids

Shopping cart etiquette is one of the most low T topics on TD.
Do better please.

Let me give you boys and girls a tip.
Park next to the return thing, then once you empty the cart, in your vehicle, simply push it in the rack.
I do this every time, usually park in the same spot every trip.
