It blows my mind that there are millions of people who work retail/grocery stores/fast food for years and years with maybe two weeks off each year. What a bleak lifestyle.

I was an assistant at a very popular retailer my salary was high $80,000 and my yearly bonus was $30,000 to $38,000 with 7 weeks vacation. I worked 4 on 3 off graveyards most of the time.

My store manager made $145,000 a year and his yearly bonus was between $130,000-$190,000. One year he grossed $331,000.

I left for less $$$$ for the exact reasons in this thread sometimes $$$$ isn’t everything.

Yeah, but your floor workers weren't making that.
That's who he's talking about.

Aren’t you an admin? While I may not work in an ICU, neither do you.

The fact that you ask this question seriously shows just how completely lacking your knowledge is of anything related to healthcare.

Owned 5 outdoor power dealers and we did warranty work for Lowe’s and HomeDepot.

The year before I sold out I finally told HomeDepot corporate and one dealer brand to FO. Their national account department called me blaming me for a service issue. Dropped the line and told the dealer rep to come pick up their mowers and parts at all 4 stores.
Lawyer, sent a letter to their national account mgr to never contact my store or me again. Customer kept abusing the mower and blaming us. We were caught in the middle. It ended up that they wanted a new mower. Customers are getting worse and worse.

I knew a manager that refused a lady a return and her boyfriend came in a few hours later and shot/killed the manager at the front of the store in front of customers and other workers for refusing a return and calling the cops on his girlfriend when she got loud and obnoxious

WMT. I worked at a conventional WMT in the 80 s. The store manager typically made $300k.

Customer service people is who you are talking about. They have to talk to people who want something for nothing all day. Sometimes they have to give it to them.

People who work in retail sales may have to put up with more trashing people than salespeople who call on their customers, but everyone they deal with came into the store looking for something. The sane retail customers came in looking to buy. That makes retail sales an easy job. The set hours they have to work is the worst part of their job. Low commissions means they have to work hard.

I worked retail in high school and college. It's a great way to learn how to deal with people. Wouldn't want to do it as a career.

One time, of many, I questioned a price and got "I could charge you more" and I responded "You think you are being fricking funny?" I might have gone too far but that put an end to that foolishness. Winn Dixie is terrible at the price being the same on the shelf and price in the system.

Just pay up and quit nickel and diming everything and life gets a lot less stressful.

Golf industry for 21 years. The assholes can be white trash to black guy driving a Rolls Royce.

Best is when you give people a solution to their stupid problem and they just keep going. Sorry I cannot help someone who doesn't want to help themselves.

People who get pissed to see if they can get free shite are annoying. Keep trying, isn't happening. When they say I'm never coming back I tell them to have a good one. My policy is "we don't negotiate with terrorists." Go be someone else's problem. Your revenue is easily replaceable by a decent human being.

I am one who has spent a lot of time in ICU; during the pandemic, I was in the ICU for several months, and it was the worst ever. There's nothing worse than having no visitors and not being able to talk to people for several months at a time. I never felt so powerless in my life. It got so bad, to where on a near daily basis, I would cry until I couldn't anymore, and became suicidal (some might remember me posting intermittently). I'm sure that I am not the only one who experienced this. I have heard of stories that were even worse than this. Elderly couples being torn apart, not being able to see each other. People dying alone. Awful. I know people are idiots now, and thank God, I don't work in a hospital or in CS, but with my experience, I can get why people are on edge. People who are sick need support from family and friends, and going months without that is extremely detrimental to your health. I was just recently in ICU for about a month, but I didn't feel so powerless this time, but I did have some flashbacks.

I worked in Customer Service as a Supervisor at a TJX company, and most customers were decent. You had a few that looked down on you, a few who "wanted something for nothing", and a few who were just nasty. I tried to be civil with everyone, but personal attacks are a no-go. I can tolerate someone cussing at me, but personal attacks on workers that I am supervising are an absolute no-go, and I would tell the customer to leave. As a 15 year-old, I had an old lady tell me to "go back to Japan" (I'm not from Japan). COVID has just put everyone on edge; the attitude isn't the same anymore. Service is far inferior to what it used to be. I've had to be stern a few times. I'm glad I don't work in CS anymore.

I was a dealer at a casino for almost two years in my early twenties.

You want to talk about pissed off customers? Try dealing with drunk people who are giving their money away while receiving nothing tangible in return

That place taught me how to deal with assholes really well.

Only after working retail do you realize how truly stupid a large portion of our population is. I mean like borderline functionally retarded.
