Not talking about fast food places but some of these restaurants have a tip section on the receipt. Do you ever leave a tip? Occasionally I'll leave a dollar, but usually I leave it blank. Cheap Bastard or Standard Practice?

No. It's like tipping at a fast food place.

You tip for service. No service, no tip.

If I feel like the food is cheap and it's a mom and pop, I'll tip a dollar

$1 or $2 every time.

$2 isn't much to me but it's something to a counter service worker.

Eating there, yes. Getting it to go, no.

If I call the order in and pick it up to go, then no, I do not leave a tip.

If I am eating at the restaurant, I will typically leave a few dollars if it is the type of place where they will clean my table for me.

I just play it safe and never tip at all... at any place. That way everyone is treated equally.

Why would you tip; you're providing your own service.

Not usually.

But if it's a place I frequent a lot and one of the usual hostesses(not hosts, F them!!), and they know basically everything I want or need and handle it, then i'll tip them $3-5 each time.

That being said, I don't get takeout much at places like that, at least not anymore, so that's a rarity.

There's a smoothie place next to my work that does this. I always draw a line trough the tip and sign the total. It does amaze me watching the line how many people feel obligated to tip since there is a tip line on the reciept. I've almost stopped going there it's pissed me off so much.

Never on the CC receipt. I'll leave cash at the table. Sometimes there is a tip jar by the register. I'll throw a dollar or two in there if it is a place I go frequently. And maybe another dollar or two if the service was quick and friendly. If it is just some dude from the back walking out and slinging my food down, then I don't tip. If they're actually refilling drinks and providing some other service besides walking out with a plate, I'm more likely to leave a tip.
