You guys that think this isn't needed or you don't want it aren't looking far enough into the future. We've already added touch interface to the traditional keyboard/mouse input set up and we are in the process of adding voice as a useful input method. We don't want everyone in the room talking to their devices let alone everyone in public spaces. It really needs to become smaller and more fashionable, maybe even an implant, but it would be awesome to be able to have private conversations with an Internet connected AI without anyone knowing.

"No it doesnt. Once they arrest you they have the right to search everything in your possession. Your mind included."

I guarentee this will be among the first arguments made for it.

Nothing on the internet is private, and now we want to hook up our deepest thoughts to it and talk to a robot operated by a company specifically designed to glean all information out of you and sell it.

What a fantastic idea.

It's astonishing to me that we're sitting here in 2018 and a large number of people still don't get this.

Then watch them piss and moan when the individual starts giving them psychic static via random insults and nonsense.

There's no technical reason for these companies to track everything we do, it's all about business models. I would suspect people would have the concerns you're voicing and if it were a worthwhile technology somebody would offer a version that was able to make it's money without sending your every thought to the cloud.

So basically this eliminates the natural filter we have between our brains and our mouth. Great fricking idea

This is the same population that was shocked (shocked!) to find out facebook was tracking their every move, photo, video, locstion, browsing history, etc, and selling it to the highest bidder.

They would think something like this is a great idea.

Bunch of retards up in here. You have to move your mouth for this device to work. It's not reading your mind.

I read the article, but it was not clear to me. You do have to move your mouth?

So a bunch of dumb people are going to be walking around talking with no sounds coming out?

Looks like Simon and Garfunkel saw the future

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share and no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

If they had us wear those at work I'd be fired within 10 minutes.

I've sometimes wondered how the (sound of the) internal voice I have compares to others. Or where my internal voice came from as it doesn't sound anything like my actual voice.

It will be interesting at some point in the future to wear a device while sleeping and then re-watch your dreams while awake.

One of those technologies where we failed to ask the important question: should we make this?
