These are just a few of the acts of vandalism McVoy Hall residents reported hearing about last semester that culminated in almost $10,000 worth of damages, which were taken out of the building's operating funds, not from student pockets.

"Some people threw computers in the lake, broke lamps, poured cement down the drain in one of the bathrooms, stole a golf cart," said Nawsheen Hossen, psychology sophomore and former resident of McVoy.

Schroeder said the most obvious act of vandalism was someone writing "Mr. Danny" all over the walls and curtains of the residence hall.

Other reports of vandalism include door locks being super glued and stuffing furniture into the elevator, causing the elevator to be shut down for several days.

Waller said this past year's vandalism to McVoy cost approximately $9,800 to repair.

"The damages ranged from broken windows and door glass, vandalism to the card access system on the outside doors, vandalism to exit signs, to mixing concrete in a bathtub," Waller said.
