I’m sure there were flash flood warnings but frankly those are issued so often that they probably don’t get the attention they deserve. The dam being breached though is really bad.
When SC had the “atmospheric river” years ago we had days of warnings it was going to happen. Helene on the other hand changed course and nobody expected what we got. Chimney Rock had been there on the river in NC for years and bam…it was gone.

I've seen some screenshot posts on FB from other sites where the posters were posting things like they were happy this happened to TX and TX deserves this. How can any sane human with a modicum of morals think such things about kids and adults dying. It's sick.

We’re producing generations of shitty human beings eaten up with political hatred.

Our country is sick. It’s not dying, and life is still “good”, but social media has given every Joe a platform to spew hatred. It’s disgusting.

Reading more about this, it seems like a weather disaster version of Uvalde. Those cabins should have been evacuated well before the event. The warnings were there. Zero chances should be taken with the lives of children.
GTFO
there was - 2 hour and 45 min warning of actual danger at 1:15am. The owner found out and starting evacuating as soon as possible. He ended up dying before he got to the last cabins.
By 4:00am they were gone.

Seems like each year the percentage of shitty people in this country increases. Bunch of hateful losers.

I agree. It's those same people who celebrate and actually applaud the death of a healthcare CEO or a presidential candidate to be assassinated.
I was hoping the weather wouldn't amount to what it did, but the radar imagery I saw even yesterday was the type of stuff I usually see out of south Louisiana with all the moisture and the rain just seemingly spawning out of thin air over the same area over and over.
To all the parents and anyone who lost a loved one in this, I can't imagine this total feeling of shock right now. I can't blame it on pure evil like the terrorist attack in New Orleans who killed innocent lives, but at the end of the day, human life is fragile. It's why every day I need to be reminded how blessed I am to be alive..

This right here. They saved hundreds of campers and were down to the last couple dozen campers who they thought were on high enough ground. It was the highest point around the campsite. It had never came close to flooding in 100 years.

I am going to tell you and the others like you this one time.
You all need to get out of this thread.
You are worried about assigning blame while people are still missing and presumed dead.
There will be no further warnings.

Here is a good update with names of some of the girls that were found.
Warning...It's tough to read.
700+ young girls were at summer camp, 27 are still missing and 9 are deceased.

And has been pointed out repeatedly, the people at this camp did not ignore the warnings They got the cabins evacuated that were at the most at risk it just happened too fast, faster than it has before. It's a tragedy

I have all government alerts turned off. They are too loud and startling. If I could control the alert sound, I would enable.

Who is at fault?
There’s no fault. Human beings have a very poor gauge for scale. Just because something hasn’t happened in 100 years we think it’s some crazy outlier when that’s a blink of an eye on the geological scale.
People want to blame somebody but when it comes to Mother Nature we’ve all lived through events that were devastating that you can’t plan for except in hindsight.
That said…I don’t have to worry about flooding unless it’s the end times because of geography but out west in hilly terrain it’s a whole different animal.
