This thread is tough to read but I can't help but keep reading it just hoping at least some of the children are found. Our hearts go out to the families. Our 9 year old granddaughter just got back from a day of swimming at the lake and we gave her a big hug. I can't imagine what those families are going through. God help them.

Oh man. I can’t imagine the thought of that.

Computer models are pretty lousy calculating that heat release and none of them can pinpoint the bullseye of these rain bombs. Neither can I. All I can see is the potential.

He's 100% correct about that. Pretty much the only way you can see those parameters coming together is via weather balloon launches. Those balloons have to be launched near the area, of course, and we had them in place in fairly good location for this. It is a day-of thing that is incorporated into daily forecasts if the information is available.

The issue is that we don't launch many balloons to begin with, and the number we do launch is decreasing and will continue to decrease.

On another episode of "Blame Trump"... Checking back is the last episode it was proven that a DEI hire didn't alert people in time for the tornado to wreak havoc... So pretty much a repeat episode.. But keep following your favorite drama...

Yeah my family friends daughter still hasn’t been found. Would take an absolute miracle for her to be found alive at this point

I've been thinking of the girl they found clinging to a tree who was saved and I was hoping for more stories like that. It doesn't look good and my back up prayers are that they find all the missing one way or another for these families.

Apparently that girl was found 12 miles downstream.

Miracles do happen!

I'm not from Texas and have never heard of these camps. But why would they rebuild camps close to an area that this happened to in the 80s? Especially for a natural disaster where you basically have no warning and you're dealing with little kiss

I mean, pretty much anywhere in America is in a risk area for SOMETHING. Why would Californians build in fire zones where they have little to no warning? What about people in tornado zones. It’s Mother Nature, and it’s scary.

The Facebook comments I’ve read on posts from ABC and NBC are sickening. The hatred in this country is out of control.

This camp has been there for 100 years.
And has not had this type of event happen in 100 years.

reshare from another source

A post from a friend…
This is a tragedy beyond tragedy's. Violent storms on the evening of 7/3 flooded the Guadalupe River which Camp Mystic rests on. The damn broke and all the younger girl cabins down on the "Flats" as they call it were basically submerged. From my daughter Tiny, "Water rose up to the door mom. The only way out was to break the back window and climb out. It was am and I couldn't find my shoes. I was so scared but I kept going. I had my retainers in but didn't want to lose them, so l put them in the pocket of my pajamas. We climbed through the window and headed up the hill.
The rocks really hurt my feet and I was so cold and shivering. We got to the top of the mountain and our counselor Annabelle was with us and was so awesome.
She kept us safe under a tree. We huddled shivering and singing songs in the dark. Mom I thought I was going to die I was so scared. The thunder and lightening was so loud. Once it got lighter out we made our way back down to the Cypress side of camp and then Annabelle through us over the river and we ran into the dining hall of Cypress where we sat in the dark.
They found me some dry clothes. We all just sat there waiting and waiting for hours. Then we were told we were getting on helicopters. Mom I didn't know if I would see you again."

I don’t know. Bad things happen to people, good and bad. Mother Nature doesn’t discriminate between color, gender, etc.

There’s a time and place to evaluate systems in place that COULD have helped this situation, but in my opinion, that time isn’t now.

I rarely get “outraged”, but the posts I’ve come across on national Facebook pages are essentially blaming Texans for this, because of Trump. Unfortunately, I remember some of that going on during the California fires too.

It used to be that trying times would unite us. It doesn’t do that anymore. We just keep pointing fingers and say “I told you so”. It absolutely sucks, and takes away from what needs to be done, which is search and rescue or search and recover.

I’m so pissed. I suppose it’s time to take break from FB.

I couldn't figure why anyone gave a shite what Roy or cornyn had so say. What a waste of time half of that was. At least got some answers from the Q&A part.
