The average Iranian is good people. Unlike the average Saudi or Arab.

Seconded. I went to the Iran/Morocco World Cup game last year and was surprised by how wrong my preconceived notions about Iranians were.

The people are not their government. In fact, I saw a number of folks carrying/wearing the old lion and sun flag because they opposed the current Islamic Republic.

So true. Friends of an Iranian family who now live in Canada. That country and its people have so much potential and could really thrive under proper leadership. I hope to see it and one day visit in my lifetime.

Bruh, really you think this is a good representation of their people? So a soccer game in Russia with likely a majority of people that don’t live in Iran anymore because they couldn’t stand their government is a good representation of their citizens that live there? That’s no different then the Iranians here in the states, it certainly should come to no surprise that ex-pats by and large don’t agree with their government.

If you polled a group of retired American ex-pats in Mexico or Europe, their opinions of the USA would likely be a terrible representation of Americans overall.

It would be a tough task for Iraq to invade the US.. As in the great 48. The only way they can attack us on our land is through acts of terror. Individuals willing to carry out an attack on the general population.

But they can go after our embassies and/or consulates. Here is the list of US embassies.

People acting like this is going to escalate into WW3 are overreacting to the extreme. I’ve seen people compare this to the assassination of Ferdinand sparking WW1. No way in hell are China and Russia going to throw away everything for fricking Iran.

That's a Monica Lewinsky joke punchline...

Monica goes to the dry cleaner with a dress one day.

She says "I'd like this cleaned, please."

The dry cleaning dude, being a bit hard of hearing, says "Come again?"

Monica replies "No, just mayonnaise."

So you are suggesting Alaska and Hawaii are vulnerable to Iran's force projection abilities?

Obama called McConnell and Ryan to the White House to issue a bipartisan memo informing the nation of Russia's interference because he didn't want to give the appearance he was trying to influence the election. McConnell and Ryan refused to sign it.

So they refused to sign political cover and that's a problem with you.

Obama cyber chief confirms 'stand down' order against Russian cyberattacks in summer 2016

quote:

The Obama White House’s chief cyber official testified Wednesday that proposals he was developing to counter Russia’s attack on the U.S. presidential election were put on a “back burner” after he was ordered to “stand down” his efforts in the summer of 2016

quote:

The view that the Obama administration failed to adequately piece together intelligence about the Russian campaign and develop a forceful response has clearly gained traction with the intelligence committee. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., the ranking Democrat on the panel, said in an opening statement that “we were caught flat-footed at the outset and our collective response was inadequate to meet Russia’s escalation.” That conclusion was reinforced Wednesday by another witness, Victoria Nuland, who served as assistant secretary of state for Europe during the Obama administration. She told the panel that she had been briefed as early as December 2015 about the hacking of the Democratic National Committee — long before senior DNC officials were aware of it — and that the intrusion had all the hallmarks of a Russian operation.

In a normal not politically fricked up world our biggest allies would be Iran and Syria and our biggest enemy would be SA.

On top of unfreezing assets

The controversial $400 million payment that the U.S. sent to Iran in January, just as four American hostages were released—a planeload of Euros, Swiss Francs and other currencies—was only the first of three American cash deliveries to the country, the Obama administration reportedly told lawmakers on Tuesday.

During the 19 days following the first shipment, the U.S. sent two more planeloads of cash, totaling $1.3 billion, to Tehran, reports The Wall Street Journal. The two planeloads, which passed through Europe on Jan. 22 and Feb. 5, followed the same route as the earlier payment, a congressional aide who was briefed told the Journal. In the first payment, an Iranian cargo plane picked up the money in Geneva.

quote:

At the time of the first payment, Donald Trump and other Republicans said the payment amounted to ransom, a charge the Obama administration vehemently denied, although it later admitted that it had delayed giving Iran control of the cash until the American hostages had safely departed Tehran.
