Will this be an issue that they will be voting on in November? The candidate who promises eviction-free housing might get a boost.

That's one courthouse that I wouldn't mind seeing the protestors burn down.

For those that lost jobs due to the virus, they were collecting $849 per week.

I know a few people that didn't get there first check until 10-12 weeks later. Should their landlords have started the eviction process?

I mean look at those people. let's not pretend they were employed before COVID. they are just trying to get out of paying the last 4 months rent

to cite a reference from the movie PCU

"Droz: These, Tom, are the Causeheads. They find a world-threatening issue and stick with it for about a week."

quote:

The Causeheads are just what they sound like, a group of activists who simply switch what they’re campaigning for or against based on fads. This rings all too true on today’s campuses, whether conservative or liberal in nature.

But it’s become much more than deciding not to eat meat or saving the rain forest or outlawing abortion or allowing guns on campus. People still frequently jump from cause to cause (the “South Park” episode “A Scause for Applause” is a great take on this), but college activists have become increasingly specialized in their nature. This has extended into the broader public as a whole as well.

There is literally a cause for everything. Troubled by how fat people are treated? Join the National Association for the Advancement of Fat Acceptance. Don’t like how lobsters are treated? Support the Lobster Empathy Center. Think biology classes should teach creationism? Yeah, we’ve got that too.

they were collecting $849 per week. Plenty enough to pay the rent, etc.

is it

I don't think any of these people are living in a place that costs over 2k+ in rent per month, so yes, $3400+ per month is plenty (and quite frankly, much more than most of them ever make with their actual job).

People think this is funny and deserved, but max Louisiana unemployment is $222 a week as it’s taxed. Hard for a lot of people to get back to work with 50% capacity and lots of businesses still shut down. There are also of people who have salaries and are losing lots of money on unemployment.

I imagine a lot of bills won’t be getting paid, and food stamps and Medicaid applications will be on overdrive next week. Very sad to see.

If everyone says enough of this, we want to go back to work, then businesses will reopen.

The government will be forced to open things up if its the will of the people.

Their employer. One submitted their correct start date, but the employer submitted an incorrect date. Delayed their unemployment for 10 weeks.
