Two teens are recovering after they were shot while trying to steal packages from a home's porch, Atlanta Police say.

Police believe the teens were attempting to steal packages from the home.

The homeowner, identified as 34-year-old Rakim Bradford, opened fire on the teens to prevent the theft.

Bradford was taken into custody and has since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.

USA Today article that I quoted from

I wish they would put on the next election cycle ballot a chance for citizens to vote on a proposal that decriminalizes shooting Porch Pirates.

I still prefer to box up shitty diapers and leave it on the porch with a fake Amazon return label. You actually hope that the box gets stolen.

Note to self: Do not live where your peers are idiots, and may sit on your jury.

This dude is going to be thrown under the jail because it's Atlanta. The culture is crime. It is a way of life and admired.

No, the problem is that if your name is Rakim it is unlikely that you can legally possess a firearm let alone fire said firearm at someone to prevent a theft

Lol
Cleaning his gun and it just went off.
Coincidentally while pointed at porch pirates.
Does he take us for fools?
We know democrats never clean their firearms.

I’m lucky enough to live on a dead end street and I live on the last house on the Cul de sac. First house you pass is a State Tropper and his wife is a K9 officer with local PD. Beautiful dogs. Next door is a peacher and 2 Retired Marines next to him. Good luck FAFO

Open Season on Porch Pirates... in SallyLand you'd only be in trouble if you can't prove they were stealing your shite.

“We believe a property crime was occurring,” Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said. “The homeowner did discharge his weapon to stop that theft of packages. Anytime a child is injured in our city, we take that really seriously.”

Then arrest the parent(s).

I support the second amendment, but I wish people would stop grabbing their gun for every offense. There are non-lethal means that should be attempted first if the situation warrants it. There are non-lethal weapons. If someone breaks into your home or there is another situation where your life is threatened, then by all means do what you have to do.

But killing someone for stealing an Amazon package from your porch is an insane overreaction, even if it is incredibly infuriating.

There's nothing in an Amazon box that's worth me killing him over.

My homeowners deductible is $5K, and I'd have to spend that, as well as the inevitable attorney fees.

Self-defense is another matter.

Time it right and they’ll fall inside the doorway.

The first non-lethal approach is DON'T STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S PROPERTY

We used to hang people for stealing horses and cattle.
It provided the impetus to not steal other people's property.

It should at least be legal to blast them with rock salt
