They still had field day at our elementary schools in the 90s and my wife's (no pics) school still does it. Used to love that day.

Maybe as some schools, but not many. We have to stay in class to “make every minute count” so we can “get them test scores up.”

It’s all about testing

We had those in the 2000s. It was awesome. I remember one year I totally forgot we were supposed to wear a bathing suit and bring a towel. Said frick it and had a blast anyway. I don't remember what happened after that.

The quarterly day that the teachers didn't want to do anything and let the PE teachers and a few volunteer parents handle all the kids?

Yeah.

I used to love field day until I joined the military and they ruined that word for me.

Ah! I’ll never forget the day i took home the first placed ribbon in the long jump. Father sent our valet, Alexander, to the shopping mall to procure a pair of those enigmatic Nike pumps so I could maximize my air time. I absolutely eviscerated little Timothy Abercrombie and those other Princeton-bound fops, though I must admit I would’ve performed better in the three legged race if not for the unfortunate pairing with the portly Phillip Livingsworth, though my consumption of 10-K may have also contributed, but I digress.

Yeah but that was St. Louis King of France. Not a single athlete to be found at that school.

I remember field day in the 90s and 00s. Do a bunch of athletic activities then they'd give you a load of giant pixie sticks and send us home to our parents

That reminds me. Our field day had a dunking tank. If you hit the target dead on, the person on top of the water tank would fall in. One of the younger female assistants volunteered for it, then someone hit the target.

She fell in and her top came off. Then she got fired or asked to leave.

Good times.

Our kids elementary school still does it, but they make a big deal and get t-shirts. I don't think they give out prizes, I think the kids just run around and do shiat.

In my day, it was the hottest day of the year, I think they researched it. Or at least it seemed that way?
