Used to have an even better one, Credeur's, but it closed down. Never found out why.
Guidry's is very good too, though.
Ya'll completely leaving out Southern Komfort and Monument Inn. Not Cajun but great places to eat, but they might technically be in LaPorte.

Doesn’t feel like a Houston generic suburb at all.
You’re right…it feels like Deer Park…unless you enjoy basking in the glow of the lights from the towers at PEMEX or breathing in the smoke from pygas storage tanks burning at ITC…I’ll stick to only spending 9 hours of my day here.

It is completely awful and you obviously have no clue about H-town housing prices. A house by my office in Belaire that is even somewhat respectable is over $1M and a frigging HUD house probably $600K. Seriously if I dropped my home in Kingwood down here it would be $700K and it's only worth $350K there. Now I could rent a townhome or apartment or live in the ghetto section which is literally only a block over to most of these high priced homes down here but I am not doing that.
Agreed.
Our home is currently valued at about half a million in the KW area. Bought it for half that price 20 years ago.
A home at that price just outside the loop has half the square footage, very population dense with highly congested roads, and will never come close to the feeling of escaping all that shite that makes you want to be home.
But for a single guy that hangs out at bars to meet loose women…suburbs like KW has mostly the married ones with kids.

OP what do you like to do in your spare time? And I'm assuming you're comfortable with renting an apartment or townhouse, or do you need a single family home?

Quite the stretch. All of that is on 225 and ITC is honestly in Pasadena. You can live in Deer Park and not be around any of that.

Southern Komfort is great. I don't care for the food at Monument Inn, but you can't beat the location.
There is a lot of great food in the suburbs of Houston, for sure.

Also, there is a Best Stop boudin/meat market in Baytown now!
Disagree with the advice for a single person to live out in Mont Belview. Yes you have a head start driving back to Louisiana on I-10 but not a hot dating scene. As mentioned above by many EaDO is the best option.

There is also an ITC in Pasadena, homie.. ITC Pasadena. 1030 Ethyl Road...West of the Beltway.
Built a few pipelines there among other dumps on the Ship Channel.
I did forget about the one in Deer Park off Battleground. Guess we are both right.

Anahuac
Just rice fields and marsh. No need to go past Mont Belvieu.

OT, never change
“I’m single and moving to the Houston area.”
“Try Anahuac, Mont Belvieu, League City, and Kingwood.”

EaDo or "East River" seem like the obvious 1st places to look.
Midtown ain't what it used to be.
You don't want to be much further West than that, or North of I-10.

Mont Belvieu. Spent 5 years there. Great community, outstanding schools.
