Could live in eado near the ballparks. Decently close to the singles action and not a terrible commute.

Midtown has been abandoned by the young professional crowd. I drive through it often and it’s full of homeless and closed up businesses. I’m assuming those apartments are renting to section 8 recipients at this point. Young folks are going out in the Heights and I guess Eado/washington/downtown.

The Montrose area is exactly what you are looking for.

Montrose isn’t really a gay area anymore other than the 3-4 bars you maybe used to frequent.
OP would have better bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and proximity to single women than in most Houston neighborhoods.

If I were young and single again, this is where I would look first. It's a bit overpriced for what you get and you have to be selective. But, you are right by pretty much everything, and it's not too bad of a commute to DP.

Somewhere between Clearlake and Kemah

If you don't care about being close to the city or have family/kids, I would look south to Friendswood, Kemha, Clear Lake, etc.
Single and ready to mingle, probably midtown, downtown or east downtown (EADO)

I wouldn’t live in any of those areas right now. Maybe to go out but each has devolved a lot since Covid.
OP, look at the heights or rice village. There are big complexes in rice village that aren’t outrageously priced from what I recall. You can walk all over the area and are close to areas you’d want to go out in. You’re also much safer there (as well as your property) than a lot of the loop.

Deer Park and LaPorte have their nice areas, if you are there temporarily.
Kind of depends on your age too, if you are in your 20s, EaDO. Heights is nice but that's a crappy commute out to 225 and the ship channel. If you are in your 30s to 40s, Clear Lake/Kemah will have plenty enough of a dating scene and you can still go into Houston without a terrible drive at night.

The Heights if you are really looking for young singles. But really don't sleep on Seabrook/Kemah/Clear Lake........especially if you like to fish, sail, boat, etc. Lots of good weekend bars down there near or on the water with young folks. One other potential spot is EADO(East of Downtown). Lots of places to hang out with younger folks in a more urban environment. But real close to Astros/Rockets and concerts at Toyota center if that your thing.

Get an apartment or condo on the water in Clear Lake or live in EADO.

Live in the city while you're young and while you can afford it.
I work in Oak Forest and live in Klein. A small piece of me dies each and every day.

Kemah/Clearlake/League City, but I'm single and they said it'd be boring for me out there.
League City is your answer because Clear Lake and Kemah is not boring or honestly just live there if you can afford it. You could actually probably find a place in LaPorte that isn't trashy either and really cut down on the commute but overall from there it is mild considering other H-town commutes. Plus, Galveston is close by to visit from time to time.
