Who gives a frick if they are related to someone or not? Lots of people who get hired to do the same job many people in their family are successful BECAUSE they’re related to experts in the field.
They grew up hearing scenarios at the dinner table with response protocols.
If you’ve served in the military and/or seen combat you will recognize that many combat veterans produce heroic offspring.

That is definitely a SWAT type deal, but if it was me, I’d like to think I could at least pop some shots at the fricker. I could die, but I could die during a traffic stop. Risk of death is part of the job.

Hire based on merit. I was simply saying that most every family talks about work around their kids/relatives and that he body of knowledge a son a policeman enters the academy with is often greater than that of a first generation cadet.
Consider the jobs your parents had, and you know more about that job at age 18 than most other untrained kids your age did at that time.

In this day and age people,civilians to first responders and LEO, are expecting mass shootings and aware of how quickly they go down and how critical each second is regarding lives taken or saved. We've seen citizens spring to action to prevent further deaths several times.
An officer aware as he was of what was happening should have stormed the room to stop the shooting. He knew damned well of the carnage that psycho was causing down below.
What really sucks about that video is the guard who's visible is clearly ready to roll into that room but the coward cop is leading/holding them back. I imagine he's dealt with some with guilt over this.

Might be just Monday morning QB in me but if nothing else, get to the floor to hear the exact location. Then, figure out how to just fire through the room walls to distract the SOB. Try something.

How do we know that the shooter didn’t have any explosives strapped to the door? Maybe waiting for back up? The thoughts running through that mans head as he heard wha was basically a nested machine guy as he looked at his tiny pistol..... “well I’m fricked”

I think y'all are overestimating their training. I kid with his GED gets two months on the job training. For some that's enough to think you were a god and above the law, for others it's not enough to go against a machine gun when all you have is a handgun.

That's exactly what i was thinking. have the guard open the door and just pop a shot off and retreat. That's just my computer nerd idea.
But hell, They could have done a LOT more without being completely reckless.
Monday QB my arse. If this was a month after Columbine I would understand but we have WAY too many training scenarios to work from 18 yrs later for a veteran LEO to NOT know what to do.
