It’s hard to judge. I mean shite, it was basically a fully automatic rifle vs a handgun.

I’d probably not frick with that either.

I get this, but four rushing targets is hard to hit with any rifle

I'm sure everyone calling these guys cowards would have just busted in there with their little semi automatic pistol with no fear at all hearing a fully automatic AR15 going off in that room.

You have to get there, secure something. Somehow cause him a distraction to stop him from shooting at the innocent.

Depends on what his orders were.

This guy may have acted cowardly or he may have followed orders exactly as he was told.

We don’t know from that video.

Not with a choke point and a fully automatic rifle.

This, but it’s easier to say fully automatic.

THey could've opened the door and then swiftly exited the hotel room...

thats a very low risk diversion given the situation

your target is shooting out of a window and four of you rush in..One of you can't land a shot, there are deeper issues

but it’s scarier to say fully automatic

Exactly. But you have to spell everything out for dickweeds on this board. Plus it sounded like a fully automatic weapon which is really all they knew at that point.

I wouldnt call him a coward. But he isnt brave or a hero and he'll have to live his whole life knowing that.

Most people just have to wonder or fantasize what theyd do in a life or death situation. Not him. He knows. Nothing.

They weren’t even on the same floor.

If they were instructed to take out the shooter, they would’ve taken the elevator to 32.

no one is sure why he stopped on 31 except that this is where he heard gunfire and froze

quote:

It is unclear from the video why they went to the 31st floor instead of the 32nd floor. In his police report, Officer Hendrex said security told him the shots were coming from 31. Accounts from Mandalay Bay security say they reported early on that gunfire was coming from the 32nd floor.

The guy had cameras down the hall way and they knew that shots were fired down the hall way by that point.

But ok Rambo, I’m sure you’d have rushed in no questions asked.

Is it normal for the hotel security guards to be armed? Just noticed all 3 had pistols of their own.

I don't know the answer to that...

I know if four of my friends had a dodgeball and one guy had 50 dodgeballs, if we rushed him we would at least stop him from throwing more dodgeballs...

When they are on duty, they are not civilians imo.

Those that do think they are still civilians -

If that's the case then none of them need to have weapons.

Its a tough decision for these police to be in but its the job theyve signed on for and they need to at least engage in some way. Same with that officer at the florida school shooting. Im not saying you run in to your death but at least try to do something, dont just hang out outside or hide.

Yeah because dodgeballs and bullets is a great analogy.

Yeah, I'm not sure if this makes him a coward, but it's pretty obvious they're not suitable for the perils of the job.

When you figure out how to screen for this during the training process, please forward your discovery to the armed forces. They’ve been trying for years to figure it out.
