The local dispensary lately just straight up gives you a free preroll for walking in. Kinda struck me as weird. Now I see why.

It's like any industry. There was a rush to get in on the new market, but in the end there will only be a few winners.
Not to mention the people opening these businesses are typically massive potheads and street dealers. I don't know how many people I know who bolted to Cali to sell weed, and these weren't the most enterprising of folks.

B-Real from Cyprus Hill was on Joe Rogan and he was talking about how much legal marijuana is taxed and because it is overtaxed, it has actually created a more sophisticated underground market.
I do think a lot of people jumped in the market and not everyone is going to survive, but frick state governments, they can't just be happy with allowing a new industry be legal, they have to tax the shite out of it to the point its not worth doing legal.
