They never work like you want. Try renting one from home depot to save yourself $500. You bette not even be looking at self contained hand held sprayers as they are junk. I have a large airless sprayer I used to use on rental property. Unless I have a lot to paint, I just roll.

You get a good roller-applicator that holds paint and you can paint a whole room very quickly.

I've got the Graco X7 from Home Depot for about $400 that I've used a shite load in my house that I'm renovating. I've sprayed a lot of doors, cabinets, and trim.

If you look at Wagner, either the Flexio 590 or Flexio 990

I'm trying avoid rolling it. Too much splatter and I don't want to have tape off every single inch my trim. With sprayer all I need is a good straight edge.

Pump the brakes. If this is what you think, you need to reconsider.

You basically said exactly the opposite of what's true. Unless you are spraying the material before it's installed then you're going to get overspray everywhere. If you're smart about the order in which you paint, you can use it to your advantage.

Either way, you need to buy some good rollers and brushes. You'll need them anyway.

This. I bought a spray gun to attach to my compressor and painted 1 rental unit with it. I've gone back to cutting in w/ a brush, roll walls and then brush paint trim and use a straight edge paint shield thing. Works well and is faster than spraying. Keep a rag handy and wipe down the shield often.

Listen to Napoleon-

"You get a good roller-applicator that holds paint and you can paint a whole room very quickly."

Don't spray, roll.

I can paint like a boss, it's one thing I can really do well.

If you paint all rooms with the same color you can go hyperfast.

That's what I'd do if I were trying to get back in my residence as quickly as possible.

ETA: Zappa's got the right idea.

My dad is a professional house painter and rarely does he pull out his sprayer. By the time you tape lay protective plastic everywhere you will be faster to roll. He will only use the sprayer for things with a lot of parts/detail. Shutters, Furniture ect. Also, rolling/brushing works the paint "into" the surface instead of just laying it on top like a sprayer does.

Harbor freight makes a clone for half the price that can still use the Graco tips.

Recommendations for paint sprayer

Ok, I admit that at first I read this topic as recommendations for a Saint prayer. Then the first comment was:
quote:

try Jesus Estaban

I had to go re-read the OP because I was quite certain no Saint had Jesus as their name. I need more coffee this morning.

Don't you still have to have a guy rolling after you spray? Or is that for things like block fill and corse surfaces

My company paints 3 or 4 houses a month. Get some 18" roller frames, some Purdy colossus roller covers, and a bucket like this LINK . By the time you learn how to properly mask and use an airless sprayer, you would have already been done usingbthis setup instead. If you think u have to use the airless sprayer, the one from harbor freight has the same pump and motor that the homeowner gracos from Lowe's and home depot do for 1/3 the price. We use them all the time. But I promise you will be better off rolling it if you've never used an airless sprayer before.
