An Oontz is hard to beat for $23. We replaced our JBL that died after 3-4 year with one and it’s held up well. Top result on Amazon when you search Bluetooth Speaker

Definitely agree with the JBL Charge. Good sound, linkable, waterproof good battery life.

Not sure how big you're looking to go but will throw out the ECOXGEAR Boulder+ as a larger option.

I've had mine for years. Use it in the boat, throw it in the lake let it float, use it for parties, etc. All I can say is it's impressive.
Longest I used the battery was at a sand bar. Max volume for 7-8 hours, only brought it down to around 25%.
I throw it in the lake or river while swimming so we can skip songs, adjust volume, etc.
Has wheels and a handle but not terrible to carry when needed. (It is slightly heavy though; I assume due to battery size)

After about 2 or so years of abuse, a seal failed while I had it in the water and it died.
They warrantied it without recipe, or asking me to ship it to them, just sent me a brand new one.
(I actually asked for a repair after all the abuse I put it thru I had no issue with paying to fix it or just buying another)

All these suggestions are good.

I use a weatherproof Marshall Stanmore II. If you want power.

My Oontz Angle stopped holding a charge after about a year. Replaced with the smaller JBL, works great. My neighbor has the slightly larger more powerful JBL if you need more "space to fill". Or, get two of the smaller ones and they link together wirelessly to "fill more space".

Big fan of the boom series.

As others mentioned, rugged and reliable, extremely portable and depending on the plans can go with 2 smaller (back patio parties) or 1 heftier (anything out and about)

Wonderboom.

Listening to live stuff, like Billy Strings, Green sky Bluegrass, dead and company, kitchen dwellers, Phish, WSP, Fruition
Non live stuff... Pretty Lights, 70s rock, British rock. Some 90s rock mixes. If the GF is controlling the tunes then throw in some Kacey Musgraves, 90s and early 2000s hip-hop... And always some Dwight Yoakam.

I love my Ecoxgear. Take it tubing, in the pool. Good sound, can’t kill it, good battery

JBL (IDK the model, looks like a cylinder). Portable for the pool, good bass and tenor. It was $250 but I eventually purchased two and keep one inside and one outside mostly.
