Good. I wish theyd issue more of those.
Not for cars in the left lane. The doofus going 60 should be getting tickets

Some get on the interstate from the ramp without ever checking around them......
Better to have situational awareness, than worry about slowing down for a fraction to keep from getting rammed by them.....

I see a Sonic trip in the near future for some of you.

So we give a ticket to the guy following too close and not the ticket to the guy camped in the passing lane causing a mile long backup of traffic moving at high speed?
Seems logical.

They should give out more of these tickets.
And tickets for headlights being misaligned and too bright.
And failure to use a turn signal.
And failure to be in the proper lane when turning at a red light.
Accidents are caused by people with horrible driving habits.
I would love to see the police actually enforce these things. Can't understand why they don't. Guess they're getting enough money from asset forfeiture.

extremely observant police to get that kinda ticket.
Yeah usually "following too closely" should be a ticket for "hitting another car"

So, they are accelerating to a comparable speed to those on the interstate and are supposed to come to a complete stop because there is no room? People stopped while trying to merge is probably the most dangerous thing on the road!
Just keep being dicks to those trying to merge and all will work out just fine.

Agreed! How many times have you baws been on a road trip and all of a sudden the right lane traffic is going faster than the passing lane. This is one of the reasons for it. Said driver had no business being in the passing lane without making a passing move.

I won't deny that I was tailgating and it's not even worth missing work to go contest the violation. My question is, is this a violation that will go on my insurance?
The best that can happen a city attorney will move this to a non-moving violation which will not be reported to you insurance. The worst, you will still get charged with the original ticket. At the end of the day you'll still miss a days work and be out $100+.

It's especially irritating when going 5-10 mph above the speed limit and folks still think it's safe to tailgate.

Getting over to let cars merge in is good, courteous driving...but if you cant speed up to accommodate cars in the far left lane, you are a shitty driver.
If someone is riding your tail in the left lane, get over..period. Its not your job to set the speed limit. You have a legitimate gripe if you ARENT in the left lane and someone is riding your arse.

you think 5mph over the speed limit is enough to ride in the left lane? the PASSING/FAST lane? Right lane is for slower traffic. YOU are the slower traffic. Get in the right lane.
I could be wrong, but I took his post to mean he is in the left lane to pass and people are tailgating nonetheless.

What if you're passing too? The people who tailgate when it is clear there is nowhere to go are the worst.

Very stupid people. Merging is not rocket science

This!
And you're supposed to leave a safe distance when following, dick.

I've seen these tickets handed out to a few of my friends who were in the left lane and not passing anyone.

I guess we interpreted this in different ways. I took this as the 99% of the time where merging traffic is trying to get on the highway going 45 while the rest is going 60+.
