re: Reason: CDC Antibody Studies Confirm Huge Gap Between COVID-19 Infections and Known Cases

Of course protests were a contributing factor, but you’re being unrealistic if you think that is on the same order of magnitude as the bar scene.
Yeah, that protests were outside and a lot of people wearing masks probably mitigated a lot of spreading.
If the protests were behind the large surges, it would stand to reason that states in the northeast would just be skyrocketing right now since they usually had much larger protests and over a lot more days.
They really haven't had large increases even though most were also undergoing their main re-openings at the same time with the notable exception of bars and larger gatherings.

of course you believe protestors aren’t the cause for the spike in cases
Link to where I said they aren't a cause? I'll wait.
But do I think bars being open creates more cases than protests? Absolutely. Just on sheer numbers alone, the number of people going to bars, even at 25% capacity or whatever, is likely an order of magnitude higher than the number of people protesting. On top of that, the closed environment of a bar creates probably another order of magnitude greater number of potential contamination events per person. It's just not even close.
Still, I personally do not believe we should have shut anything down at all.

Florida is going on total lockdown again. Protests? Bars? Restaurants? Beaches?

I said this months ago, if you want to know actual rate of infection take the known death rate or 125,000 and divide by 1/2 percentage point or .005 and that will get you 25 million. (We used to think it was 1% but know it’s less now)
At least 200-300k will die here per the models assuming we can a vaccine into production this year, if not many more. It’s a virus, most people don’t even understand what that it. It a living creature of sorts, the longer it hangs around the smarter, stronger, more deadly it’s likely to become.

I heard today 10M infected, 500K dead.

I probably shouldn't call you dumb, though. It seems clear that you have some sort of emotional mental block on this issue preventing you from accepting the obviousness of the truth, so I should give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not usually this dumb.

Ppl keep denying how fast this is spreading

it probably is. indoor transmission is a lot more common than outdoor
and there were a lot more people in bars than protesting
And then the obvious factor is people frequenting multiple bars
If people just stuck to their regular favorite bar it would really reduce transmission

I mean you are wrong. You can believe what you want to believe. No sense in continuing to argue.
ETA: There is a reason the NY Governor doesn’t want protestors to participate in contact tracing. They are afraid of the results.
ETA 2: Many places weren’t even fully opened yet when protests started, so your theory about there being more people in bars, is entirely wrong

i don't think that's entirely accurate

The bars never even opened in Palm Beach country and we spiked.

I find it amazing that hardly anyone is saying on TV that this spike has anything to do with the protests.
I even said as the protests started “let’s see in a couple weeks if we get a spike in cases among young people” and lo and behold, a couple weeks later we get a spike among young people.
That obviously doesn’t prove that the protests are to blame or that there isn’t more than one cause, but the timing fits perfectly.

saying protests not contributing to spike is completely irresponsible and I protested 3x. mask everytime btw so don't even start

This is completely fair

Lmao. Shut the frick up. You cannot possibly believe that 100 people going to a bar is worse than 1000 people congregated in the streets.
How much UV light exposure does this virus experience in a bar vs outside?

Doesnt it need around 5 minutes outside to kill it off?
Distance is the biggest way to stop transmission.
