Ah yes. People sitting and drinking at bars is a hot spot but yet there are no outbreaks in gyms where people aren’t wearing masks, sweating, and are exhaling more forcefully.

Spare me

Where the frick did gyms come from in this conversation dude?

You basically said there's no way to believe that fried pork chops are better than fried chicken and then responded with "so you're telling me you don't like blow jobs?"

Same logic as saying gathering in bars is a larger contributor to spread than thousands protesting if you ask me.

“Indoor transmission is worse than outdoor transmission”

Based on what? It sounds nice in your head? Evidence to back it up?

Herd immunity is the only solutions so it's time to open the bars back up and have them packed out with young people.

Results: Three hundred and eighteen outbreaks with three or more cases were identified, involving 1245 confirmed cases in 120 prefectural cities. We divided the venues in which the outbreaks occurred into six categories: homes, transport, food, entertainment, shopping, and miscellaneous. Among the identified outbreaks, 53.8% involved three cases, 26.4% involved four cases, and only 1.6% involved ten or more cases. Home outbreaks were the dominant category (254 of 318 outbreaks; 79.9%), followed by transport (108; 34.0%; note that many outbreaks involved more than one venue category). Most home outbreaks involved three to five cases. We identified only a single outbreak in an outdoor environment, which involved two cases. Conclusions: All identified outbreaks of three or more cases occurred in an indoor environment, which confirms that sharing indoor space is a major SARS-CoV-2 infection risk.

Results: Of the 110 cases examined, 27 (24.6%) were primary cases who generated secondary cases. The odds that a primary case transmitted COVID-19 in a closed environment was 18.7 times greater compared to an open-air environment (95% confidence interval [CI]: 6.0, 57.9). Conclusions: It is plausible that closed environments contribute to secondary transmission of COVID-19 and promote superspreading events.

My antibody test from a few weeks ago was negative but I also know of two teenagers that were positive (one is still positive after second test) that have been shut up in a house with someone that has all the underlying conditions yet no symptoms or illness from that person. I’m about to be past trusting anyone from any government because I don’t know who to believe anymore.

Are we just going to ignore the protests and blame bars instead?

Of course protests were a contributing factor, but you’re being unrealistic if you think that is on the same order of magnitude as the bar scene.

I think protests and their acceptance across country as being ok during Wuhan era actually amplified Issue with bars both in age going to both and in those just not giving a freak seeing what others are doing across the country and getting a pass. Throw in visitors to and from Mexico and illegals looking for treatment and work as things opened up more.

Outdoors, air currents are more likely to scatter and dilute the virus, making transmission less likely than in a home, office, or other confined space with limited air circulation. Even outdoors, however, it's important to maintain a physical distance of at least six feet and wear a mask, to reduce risk even further.

So you link me a study that

A) Has not been peer reviewed and directly says should not be used for clinical purposes

and

B) That took place in China. How many “outdoor gatherings” were the size of George Floyds 4 funerals.

I mean they can reason it however they like. You asked why I brought gyms into the conversation. It’s a closed confined space, people are not wearing masks, and outbreaks aren’t happening. So obviously the reasoning is flawed.

Not sure about this data as they didn’t test decedents prior to March 2020 for COVID. Begs the question as to the “non flu” deaths as to whether they were really COVID. I am conservative and a believer in heard immunity , but also think that all of the stats on both sides are politicized.

Maybe because it would be touched by dozens of children per day and the virus could live on those surfaces long enough for the next kid to touch it? Or maybe it's just to protect themselves from litigation. I haven't read too much about it.

You brought gyms into a conversation about bars vs outdoor protests. I said that I believed the protest did contribute to the spread of the virus, but that confined indoor spaces are potentially super spreaders. I never said only bars can spread it.

I agree that the virus is probably more transferable inside than outside. That is not the (or at least my) point.

My problem is there is absolutely no way for anyone to ever know which events (bars or protests/riots) have contributed to any case spike.

Pointing the finger at one or saying one is worse than the other shows an absolute bias.

I mean, my gym is limiting the number of people who can be in at the same time to 10. They're also taking temps.

I don't think bars are doing that.
