I will attest to that. When my son and I went to state for TMSCA Fort Settlement and Quail Valley won all the the top awards.

As we can see from so many of these responses, there is a big economic boom happening all over and has been happening for a while.
The shite that is about to go down in Sw La and SE Texas is unreal. Tell your lazy stupid friends out there to quit whining and complaining about their job situation and come down and get to work.

Real estate prices was one of the top reasons I passed up a job out there in favor of one in Baton Rouge.

Well, to be honest, I wasn't talking about jet status. Mainly speaking on a very comfortable living to support a family. Basically paying cash for things and not paying interest

Whats the appeal to living in Houston or Dallas and being crammed up each other's asses and stuck in traffic all the time?

True, but Houston and Dallas are not culture cities.

I guess when I think about it, none my friends there plan to stay there. Only work then retire back to La or Ms.

I'm not running to Houston, but I will point this out. Exxon is moving across town. They are paying for most of their employees to move.
Lots of good companies over there that pay well and offer great perks.

I'm 30 minutes from everything I would ever need including 4 pro teams, minor league baseball, hockey and indoor football.

Work from home, never in traffic, 8th green is 50 yards from my house.

Wife works 2 miles from home. Kids go to top district in area

Church is 5 minutes away, grandparents 10

Just sold my house a month ago for 5k over asking within 6 hours of going on market

Dealt with this back in January in the Heights area... our house came on the market on a Monday, we were under contract by Thursday. Truly a gut wrenching process. Got the house though

Yea....my office is in the heights. That urban revitalization is no joke! Being single or a young set of DINKS means you better be bathing in cash over there.

On the school districts, if you think for one moment FB or HISD can even touch the Woodlands schools your crazy. I am talking Woodlands NOT CISD as a whole. As far as Memorial, I can't afford a $1mill+ home.......

The Woodlands is by far the best suburban community in Houston. I deal with a lot of development throughout FB, Brazoria, Harris County, etc. and none of them come close to being the complete package. Is what it is.

In an ideal world, we would retire back to south LA and have a place on the water, but my beloved hometown cannot sustain what we do now.

Moving across town? They aren't paying for people in Houston to move across town.

Where I live in DFW, it's gotten so wild at times that, on two separate occasions, I've had real estate agents call me out of the blue and ask if I was wanting to sell my house (I'm not) or if I knew any houses in my neighborhood for sale (there was one that went up a week ago, now it's under contract).

And I'm not in one of those highly desirable areas either.

They are multi cultural cities. Houston has everything you want to get into, but not for the same price.
