My aunt and good friend my age died "from covid" during the omicron phase. Turns out my friend died in his sleep from a heart attack and my aunt of heart disease she ignored.

Re-reading the Covid thread

I wish there was an easy way to see if I posted in it at all.

One of my employees at the time lost her father and brother within a 24 hour span to Covid. I know it's a real thing.

But the heavy-handed responses and general idiocy about it were pure bullshite. That's my problem with it. Masks. Social distancing. Vaccinations. Mandates. Fraudulent labeling of Covid killing people. Zero flu ( ). All of it. Just complete and utter stupidity for the most part.

I sincerely hope that in the future, that time frame is looked back upon as one of the dumbest periods of time in the history of our country.

Covid took my father-in-law and my grandmother. It's not as dangerous as we all thought, but it's still a pretty shitty illness and has consequences if you get it. Downvote away, just like my comment on the first page, but the fact that people disregard it and joke about it infuriates me.

I know the subject of masking forever contentious, but I think on some level I’ve just accepted that for the rest of my life, I will be masking and all shared and public spaces — and honestly, I’ll probably be masking around family and friends since I live alone, and most people aren’t as cautious as I am.

It’s not something I feel overly sad about, but it’s also obviously not how I imagined my future.

To me, it just seems like the most logical option with what’s going on with the world right now and factoring in air pollution from climate collapse, and such.

Does anyone else feel the same?

some people are incapable of acknowledging things that don't happen in their immediate social circle it seems. probably because before the past couple 100 years it wasn't a needed skill.

No one has ever said anything about hindsight. It’s not like there’s a common phrase referring to it and perfect vision. 20/20 even.

Went to the Dr during this time she asked me if I wanted a flu shot. I said how do you get the flu nowadays. Because if you half arse covid prevention you shouldn't catch anything.

Funerals weren’t allowed. We cremated my great aunt. Had she died before the Covid, we would have had a funeral.

I'll never forget those first few weeks. We kept the kids home for a week, not allowing them to go to work, visit with friends. My employer closed the offices except for essential personnel, every one else started a "work from home" period.

At that time, we truly trusted what we being told. We trusted "medical professionals" scientists and the CDC.

Within a few weeks, we knew we were being lied to. We knew things were being hyped and sensationalized, but we didn't understand why and what exactly.

As time progressed, the hype was certainly hysteria. The karens were rabid- heck, every liberal was a basket case.

My son and I never got "the shot". I got covid twice, according to the at-home snot tests. Now I'm not confident I ever actually had covid, since most of the at-home tests were proven to be less than 70% effective.

I don't know anyone personally who died "from covid", or "with covid".

I do know a lot of people who suffered tremendously from the covid responses. Lost jobs, lost money, lost final days with loved ones and many kids educationally stunted from the school's responses.

And if you think the US Dept of Education did not force schools to comply with their covid mandates, you are a fool. Not only would they withhold funding for not complying, billions in covid grants for even tiny private schools were not awarded for non compliance with mandates.

OSHA was a wicked harpy with their covid mandates. I know everyone remembers that.

One good thing that came from the covid era is now "science", medicine, pharma giants and the CDC have exposed their faults and corruption. It will take generations before we trust the medical community and scientists like we did before covid.

It feels like science fiction thinking back.

My best friend's brother is still stoking his own ego,

My friend has never met his nieces who are under 6 and they have only seen their grandmother once. They refuse to travel and they want the grandmother to test daily and isolate herself for two weeks before she visits. It is hard for her to travel due to physical limitations.

The school had to intervene just in the last few months and request they stop sending their kids to school with masks. The girls would be in tears daily begging the teachers to let them remove the masks their arrogant parents make them wear.
Wut

Your brother is still testing perfectly healthy people for covid in 2025? WTF I thought even the biggest covid folks had given up on that
