Dude in the 80s early 90s you could pull a beer truck up in the front yard of the house for parties and we did on the regular.
In the early 80s at LSU alcohol was flowing freely at the frat house, especially on football game weekends. Always had a band playing in the dining room after the games, which was always fun with a drunk date. South Seas weekend was a blast too.
Those were good times. I can't imagine going to college without being allowed to drink legally.

Kappa Sigma is being ruined by all the soys from the non-south chapters. They raged when Mike Johnson became man of the year this year. Majority of men are too soft these days.

Since this thread is somewhat about hot girls. I need a place to post this video since I can't start threads.
This video has a few hots girls, some baws.. A real baw.. The black dude who is a bouncer with a big dip in his mouth wearing boots.. And its in an SEC state.. Florida.
The guy I am referring to isn't the dread head black.

That is not a good thing for your school’s culture. It was cheesy AF when I was in school and has been ever since. I was preppy in high school, sure as frick didn’t want to do that in college.
My son dated a girl who is rushing this fall at Alabama. She had a self proclaimed shopping addiction and has had so much work done it’s mind boggling. She’s going to be some hot shite girl no doubt, but frick all that.

Thankfully there are plenty of other schools to pick from if that’s the case.
Personally I think it enshrines an on campus and instate culture that is something that while imperfect sure as hell beats the garbage national cultural shifts we’ve seen in the past two generations and explains in large part why even during a period of what I would define as rot and decline Alabama has grown and thrived both as a state and a university.
I know diehard LSU fans who would send their kids to Bama for the reasons I outlined as much as they hate Bama on Saturdays.
I know very few Bama grads who would want their kids at LSU due to the crime and decline going on in Baton Rouge and I say that as someone who loves and respects the best aspects of S LA culture and the football gameday traditions of LSU as a school.
Ultimately I agree with some of the critiques of the vapid white girl mentality you mentioned, but if it’s a choice between that, the nihilistic and self loathing culture of the coasts or the anarchy and crime glorification of the urban centers I’ll stick with the the upper middle / upper class southern country club values like you see at Bama.

Can you explain to us non greek life folks what kind of shite they were allowed to do in the 80's that they can't do now?

In the 80s, LSU was at the very top. It’s really gone downhill since then. The frats/sororities on campus aren’t allowed to do 1/10th of what they were allowed to do in the glory years.
F'king Alexander went out of his way to destroy Greek Life at LSU. The Greeks didn't help themselves, either.

I agree, Alabama is ahead now.
Then Ole Miss
then UGA/Auburn. I really don't know much about LSU. When I was in school those 4 were definitely the most influential at their respective campuses.
Texas has very prominent greek life, but it's just lost in the mix since Texas is urban and big.

I'm totally shocked that our lowered Nissan adult isn't a big proponent of greek life

Words cannot express how wild Greek Life was in the 80’s & 90’s.

Ranking Greek life is like ranking baseball cards. Useful only to those who value it.
Exclusive places are filled with exclusive-minded people. I, for one, prefer to be excluded from dat.

LSU in the early - mid 2000's, we still had some pretty good parties, but there was a lot of oversight you had to navigate to still have fun. As I was leaving, it seemed like it was getting more intense scrutiny and sounds like it became a nightmare afterwards. In any case, even when the times were "good" at LSU during that era, the percentage of greek vs non-greek at LSU didn't touch that of Alabama/Ole Miss.
I was in a fraternity at LSU from '08-'12 and there was a noticeable change in the way the administration handled the fraternities. I blame part of it on the world's largest douche Jonathan Sanders and part of it on the iPhone and social media. When I pledged in '08 less than half of the pledge class has iPhones. By my senior year in 2011 all of the pledges and actives had iPhones. The damn thing made it way to easy for people to video the stupid shite we were doing. Especially when the same idiots doing the stuff were posting it on social media. $20 says that if the iPhone and social media existed from the 1950s-2000s fraternities could not have gotten away with 1/10th of the crazy stuff they claimed to have done.

Vapid sorority girl checking in ha ha. I started LSU in '95, and I can attest to how fun the bands at the houses were after the games. These were really some of my most fun memories of being a Tiger back then. Dancing our butts off after a football game was just a good time.

Started with the birth of the I-phone with a camera imo. I might sound callous and get downvoted into oblivion but when we could haze, we didn't get a bunch of soys. Kinda weeded them out back in those days. I knew what I was getting into anyway when I pledged and I didn't care. I was also going in the Marines as an Officer so I figured this pledging shite would be a cakewalk anyway. Not saying it was anything life threatening but it was pretty well established that if you pledged Kappa Sigma then you were gonna get a taste of it which probably helped get us kicked off campus not long after. Times have changed though. What was acceptable then obviously not PC now.
