But would you send your kids to any public school in Bossier over South Highlands, middle magnet, Byrd Shreve or Magnet High if you had the choice?
Yes. My daughters public elementary school in Bossier looks like a private school.

How are these scores calculated?

Those kids have either gone private in the recent 10-15 years
Where would they go? PJP isn’t very big and others are too far away

4 Saline
5 Lee high
6 Dutchtown
7 Fountainbleau
8 Reosepine
9 Benton
10 Zachary
Paints a different picture huh?
This school is half magnet. Not necessarilly a fair comparison.

Just because the public schools ranks well in LA does not mean it is a good school. LA has low expectations.

I wonder what the rate of single parent homes for the lower half compared to upper half

Crazy how Pointe Coupee and Baker are so close geographically to W. Feliciana and Zachary but score so differently. The only thing keeping Pointe Coupee even remotely from the very bottom, and it's not far from the bottom as it is, is the Stem school. Livonia is horrible.

St. Tammany is larger than just Mandeville.
Well the only no no go is really salmen.
So basically your kids are going to good enough schools in at Tammany and many options.
Like Zachary for instance. One high school and some of the schools on their list are weird. One pre k. They also have just a k school, a 1st-2nd school and just a 3rd-4th, 5th-6th and 7th-8th.
I mean no wonder they are at the top.

Due to Judge Parker the city of BakerISD was basically on its way down from its official start after its long waited approval process. Parents got tired of waiting for approval. Some moved and others whose kids had graduated decided it’s wasn’t their issue anymore. Many others started to follow.
State constitution just gets in the way of any real attempts to adapt to current location of population or density. Even if Baker wanted to look into trying again with EBR and EBR agrees they are both screwed if they decide it was a mistake. It should not take a state constitutional amendment process to divide up a poorly performing parish district every time. It protects those doing a crappy job.
It shouldn’t be a free for all and constantly see sawing back and forth on a whim, but the current process needs updating. Parish system works for some but not others, and for those with problems it should be easier to create new districts. EBR is even more of a head scratcher as it’s been divided out 3 times, and the remaining EBR school district isn’t really a parish district.

Lafayette will be East BR before too much longer, if they don't clamp down on the discipline.
Good kids/parents/teachers have about had enough and will bounce...

Salmen. Salmen is happening.
It’s a shame too. Was a good small school prior to Katrina. So many apartments went up after that are now just section 8 dumps thanks to Obama and their “you must build these for federal money”. We should have told them to stick it
