Rain this weekend...tell me what to expect.

Flying into NO Friday morning with 2 grandsons (6 and 7) to bring them to the game Saturday night. The weather app on my phone shows it will rain Saturday, maybe less that 1/2". Disappointed that we will be wearing ponchos as we try to enjoy the campus before the game and in the stadium. I'm seeing posts on here that make it sound like the Cajun Navy should be on standby. Am I missing something that's getting explained better on the local news?

My app shows the rain diminishing throughout the afternoon. This is weather forecasting, though.

just prepare for some rain, heavy at times throughout the day
hopefully it will not be too bad around game time but can't rule out some showers
a good place to avoid it before the game with kids that age is the PMAC
they have games on the big screen and the band will come perform plus you have bathrooms and some concession options inside

Tiger Stadium Game Day Forecast
Pack your rain gear, as a heavy system is moving through Baton Rouge on Saturday, bringing a 90% chance of showers and heavy thunderstorms.
• Tailgating (Morning/Afternoon): Temperatures will hover around 78°F to 80°F. Rain chances surge to 75% by late morning and remain locked there all afternoon. Expect persistent downpours and lightning delays that could disrupt outdoor tailgating.
• Kickoff & Game Time (Evening): It will stay incredibly humid with a temperature of 78°F dropping to 76°F by the final whistle. The threat of rain stays high at 70% throughout the game, meaning you should expect a wet, sloppy matchup in Death Valley.
• Winds: East-northeast at 5 to 7 mph, which shouldn't impact the passing game too much—though the slick ball certainly will.

Thanks all for the info. Sounds like I will need to watch it on the drive up from NO on Saturday morning.
We will definitely be going into the PMAC. Took 2 other grandsons to the Arkansas day game last year and it was nice to go into and cool off, and watching the band come in was a great experience for them (and me).

So you have weather apps and have apparently lived on earth for a while (seeing as how you have grandchildren), and you are asking us what to expect from a weather forecast?

Rain is fine, but another post talked about closing schools and moving HS games to Thursday. Another talked about cancelling the Tiger game. And an earlier response mentioned T-Storms which I don't see mentioned on the phone app.

Be thankful if that is the brunt of the weather. Earlier this week it was supposed to be very rainy Saturday & Sunday (with amounts upwards of 4"). A local meteorologist just posted on FaceBook that over the past day weather models trends have backed off of the rain totals for inland areas of the state. The extreme southeastern areas of the state and areas of the gulf over towards Mississippi and Alabama are still expected to see heavy rain. Hopefully the models continue to lessen the rain and this Saturday turns out fine! Geaux Tigers!!!!
