Anyone who feels anxious or jittery from caffeine ought to try taking 200mg of L-Theanine with it. For me, it takes the side effects away and leaves the cognitive effects. Also lowers blood pressure.

Just ordered highest rated and most popular L-theanine on Amazon

If I don't have my morning cup of coffee I become an ornery pissed off person for the entire work day. I might suffer from a slight stimulant addiction.

I usually have a pepsi in the morning to get me going and one in the afternoon. I tried to quit and had the worst headaches and felt lethargic. Caffeine addiction is no joke

If you truly want to quit, you should do so gradually. Reduce that 16 oz down to 8 oz and so on. I can't drink two cups back to back. It makes me jittery.

Give up gluten. Unless you are drinking a ton of coffee, it probably isn't coffee. But you will know soon enough.

The 24 tablespoons of sugar you were shoveling into your body were way worse than the relatively minor amount of caffeine you were getting.

I use the Now Foods brand but I'm considering the powder because it's like $20 for 500 pills' worth. It's just a bigger pain in the arse to deal with.

Keep in mind it doesn't work for everyone, but it definitely worked for me, like immediately (or, 30 minutes rather). Some feel no effect, others find it too sedating with their normal cup of coffee. A 2:1 ratio of theanine to caffeine seems to be the recommendation -- based on anecdotal evidence at least. I've been spending too much time reading r/nootropics.

I have a feeling it may be contributing to some gut issues so I'd like to eliminate it from my consumption for awhile to see if it's a contributor.

that's a good way to see if it's the coffee or not

I know you won't try it, but lots of folks including myself have an f'd up acid / alkaline balance in their bodies...I found that apple cider vinegar capsules taken as needed, help balance the body....and ACV is good for lots more things as well.

do you put sugar in the coffee?

sugar and caffeine, create what's called a synergism, where you feel the boost

I drink it black or just cream, never felt a boost unless I happened to have a sugar product with the coffee

in the summer, I rarely drink coffee, and I never get a headache

my coffee consumption varies from 1-3 cups in the cooler months, to zero in the summertime
