Some feel no effect, others find it too sedating with their normal cup of coffee. A 2:1 ratio of theanine to caffeine seems to be the recommendation

are you taking that to counter the effects of caffeine so you can sleep?

I never had an issue with it...I can drink a cup of coffee and go right to bed...but I don't spike it with sugar.

drink it mostly black sometimes with a creamer

I don't mean gut as in fat on my midsection, I mean gut as in the human digestive system.

Dude, my life has been altogether better after quitting a month ago. Less anxiety during the day. I had like maybe 3 days of withdrawals.

I just read about 2 pages of this thread.

For all y'all so worried about shitting, drink two teaspoons of Metamucil and some water every day. You'll be shitting better than ever.

No. Stimulants work well for me, but they can amp up the anxiety along with the cognitive improvements. The theanine takes the edge off the anxiety without sedating me.

Best thing to do is switch to green tea. Add honey or sugar/sweetener and milk. That way you still get a hot during and a sugar boost with much less caffeine.
